Rage 2 looks really good, maybe better than it deserves but same thing with Cyberpunk, there is something wrong with their punks.

Somehow they don't look like dirt-poor scavengers. On the contrary, those are like fashionista punks with money to support their perfect cut hairstyles and Chuck shoes. Some sort of capitalist punks. Also they don't look as tough. Skinny and no muscles..

Am I getting too old to like 'villains' of this generation?

This, Shadowrun is the same way. It's supposed to show a degenerated society in which people spend what money they have on pointless shit which does not benefit their lives, only their egos. And it's supposed to reflect the consumerist nature of American society that encourages people to rack up debt. Anyone who thinks those punks can't be poor hasn't ever seen a ghetto nigger with a shiny truck featuring spinning chromed rims. The (((banks))) can afford to be even more lenient in cyberpunk settings because they have more control and identification is more strongly enforced.

Hopefully, we get to see the suburbian wastelands like those that are described in Shadowrun. Then you'll get to see a real hellhole infested by ruthless gangers.

10 years, maybe. Not 20. But I can't deny that the late 80s and early 90s were the golden age.

Problem is, those same writers are the aging soyboys of [CURRENT YEAR], wearing "I'M WITH HER" t-shirts and whining about the one political shift they never predicted because they were so sure they were right. Really, cyberpunk should be pozzed as hell, I think it's just too old now to fall all the way.

It's a weird paradigm. I love cyberpunk, but I hate so much of the mentality behind it. Gibson, as soy as he may be today, at least didn't make it about "Rah, Rah, fight the Man", he simply envisioned megacorps as an unstoppable force that you didn't even try against. Read New Rose Hotel for a sense of just how powerless the individual was against the machine. It's where we're at now, really - can you even comprehend Johnny Icejacker trying to go up against fucking Facebook or Google? The only difference is that hacking isn't nearly as cool, all the hackers realized that they could make bank working for the corps, and the corps pretend to be friendly and nice and happy and utopian.

Personally, Cyberpunk hit the right notes on the aesthetic.

>fashionista punks

Kind of been in the genre since its inception. Pretty much everyone in Freeside in Neuromancer. I will say, the dyes were a little bright, and too maintained for the world in Rage. But in a city where anything can be obtained, and image is everything? Yeah, I am okay with it.

I hear it's alright, but it would not translate well to open-world. Open-world implies non-linearity, otherwise there's no reason to make it open-world in the first place. The enemy design needs to be adaptable to the gameplay style of choice. This can be done by increasing enemy variety or improving the artificial intelligence, and I have yet to see a developer do either of those things in an open-world game.

They don't care about saving lives, only if you've paid your insurance.

They will probably be a crutch for non-violent player classes like corporates who can't use guns that well.

So if the player gets jumped by nigs then Trauma Team will come in and shoot up the nigs to give the player a band-aid.

Cyborgs are humans with body parts replaced by mechanical ones.

In that case, it's hard to tell. She might have a brain in that head and therefore she's a cyborg, but she might not and the full cybernetic body means android.

However, considering the context where she's showing up in a red carpet like a star, it's most likely a cyborg.

Sure, but I wouldn't say it's "the most likely"

I'm not familiar with Cyberpunk in particular, but most IPs in the same genre have a very grim view of cyborgs. In Shadowrun, it's expensive enough to be restricted to the richest of the rich and it has an extremely high chance of making you go totally insane due to the complete dissociation between the mind and the human body. Imagine feeling like you are a stranger in your own skin for the rest of your life like trannies claim to. Now they might be setting this up for a cool character arc where a cyborg idol goes insane and murders her fans, but it could easily also just be an android because that's "standard."

The trailer clearly shows all levels of society are heavily mechanized.

>but it could easily also just be an android because that's "standard."

I could see a sentient android being a curiosity worthy of such a crowd, but I don't think AI is that advanced in 2077 to be miniaturized to such a degree, so it's likely a human in a fully mechanical body.

No, they go insane if they have too many operations then the ncpd will send max tac to deal with out of control augmented people. They start to see regular people as fleshbags and so on.

Also in the cyberpunk 2020 universe the augments are dirt cheap and having a limb that is mechanized is a fashion statement kinda like a tattoo. hell, the regular people have military grade weapons if they can afford it from militech.

I'm guessing she's a cyborg that covers the rest of her body in a chrome paint, but that's just based off of the lack of obvious head modifications in comparison to her arms.

That's kinda the point. Rich people can get away with doing a lot of crap, mostly for their own ego and as a fashion statement.

A pop idol getting a full synthetic body so she never ages nor has wrinkling skin and "shines like a star" would make far more sense than artifically engineer a pop idol from an android. A robot that can sing and dance? Got like 20 of those in every brothel by now.

And by "going insane", that doesn't mean she just straight up rips heads open. That's what military or combat cyborgs do since it's what separates them from flesh bags.

A chrome pop idol would more likely be an excessive diva, treating everyone like shit because they aren't even near her level of existence. Some violence could happen, but it's more likely that she'd be incredibly degenerate or just plain obcessed with guts and internal organs secretly.

>rage 2

>cinematic

Tbh I don't understand the hate for rage 2 here tbh. Gunplay looks solid, attack variations look solid, car combat looks decent, and it was like the only game in E3 that showed pure gameplay.

Gunplay for Rage 2 looked like Doom with new textures. Open world as opposed to detailed levels, which is glaring when it was one of the highlights of Doom. Car combat didn't hook me. And they were really pushing the 80s, 88 Luftballons version of pop punk that is overhyped, over saturated in pop culture. But I also think Road Warrior has the best music for Mad Max, and Thunderdome is an abomination. So both the music, and the accompanying look was a bit jarring for me.

I also have a soft spot for Knight Rider, Cyperpunk played right into it.

>Gunplay for Rage 2 looked like Doom with new textures

Doom's gunplay was good though, except for the bullet sponge enemies and glory kills. This game eliminates those problems, so it's literally perfect.

>Open world as opposed to detailed levels

Small levels wouldn't make car combat fun.

>Car combat didn't hook me.

Because? It looks like a usual twisted metal car combat. Plus, it has tanks, mechs, and laser mounted flying bikes.

>And they were really pushing the 80s, 88 Luftballons version of pop punk that is overhyped, over saturated in pop culture.

I didn't like the Tank Girl aesthetics either. At least the protagonist won't be one of those degenerates, all he does is purging them.

>Knight Rider

They're going with the Tank Girl aesthetics, which is more like 90s than 80s, not Knight Rider.
