We have entered a new era of gaming! It might be good, or if it might be bad, but so far so good. At first there were just simple "hotpotato" gambling games that honestly I can't stand It's so much lazier than any real form of gambling. and then came things like cryptohorses and games that remind me of shit like neopets… and now it looks like we're back to browser based strategy like CryptoRome which honestly has peaked my nostalgia. The next gen is bringing in RPGs and MMORTS like CryptoDungeons and CryptoBarons respectively.

>what does blockchain add to gaming?

There are two things that I've noticed. One, it's now easier than ever to fund a game, easier than even with kickstarter. Two, it's allowing developers to create game-assets (items, horses, cities, anything really) that can be used in multiple games. CryptoRome is already doing it with CryptoHorses where the special WarHorses on cryptohorses add tangible bennefits to your troops in CryptoRome.

<they fun?

So far I'm mostly playing CryptoRome but they only have part of the game up so far, pretty much a teaser. I have a city, it grows grapes, and I can sell those to speculators who are currently paying ETH for the grapes… Ridiculously, I've already made about $250 in ETH playing this one. part was from the bounty contests. They were giving away villages and even eth for a meme contest. CryptoBarons is doing a meme contest right now too.

What the fuck are you on about?

Behold the insane lengths these cryptoretards have to go for just to justify their endlessly spiraling schizophrenia

Relatively retro games, that (most) have been monetized in a decentralized system, that allows players to loot each other's actual money… though the tech is also being used for more noble objectives like adding interconnectivity between multiple games. IE warhorses from CryptoHorses can be used in the completely different game, Crypto Rome. Or if they wanted, they could have characters from Chibi Fighters, add troops or special benefits to armies.

really I just want a full pvp oldschool MMO where I can kill n00bs like it's 2001 and steal their gold and peacans, but this time, I sell it for real money!

>justify

Justify what? Revealing to the world that the entire world's financial system is based on raw speculation and that there is no sanity involved at all? Just gambling and greed based on rumors and hearsay! Yes, there are idealistic idiots who think that "cryptocurrencies will change the world for the better by decentralizing currency and liberating us from blah blah blah" but really, it does help… by either showing the world that all finance is bullshit, OR, by becoming such a bubble that when it pops, the entire system collapses… I'm hoping for the latter.

Though, if the average player really tried all day and managed to make a few dollars playing cryptogames… then the entire economies of shit-hole nations could become dependent on playing them on their shitty dialup and cell phones… and that could probably fuck with economy too in funny ways.

Cryptocurrency is a fucking waste of time to implement in games.

The reason why it has any place as a currency besides profiting off of the pyramid scheme is the fact that its distributed. There's no single authority.

For game items to have any value, they need to be backed by the fact that people can't ez pz mass produce them by cheating. The only way to reliably do this is by either A. having an authority distribute the items, which defeats the purpose of using crypto, or B. make them items producible by mining crypto, in which case there is no reason to bother with the game part.

Seriously. Look at every god damn cheap ass MMO with mostly peer2peer gameplay out there. You know what all of those games have in common? At the end of the day, all rewards are distributed by a dedicated server, which also keeps an eye on what you're doing to make sure you're not cheating yourself a trillion drops.

This just sounds like website comment section shilling.

Reminder that blockchain is a failed tech as long as it's bloated. The end game of blockchain is regressing to centralization.

If I were blindly shilling, I'd spam the referral links and be begging for shekels. Also I'd be better off waiting until after the landsale is over on cryptorome, as after the landsale there will be no more cities to purchase, which means less powerful competition for the spots in the senate.

>blockchain is failed!

We have barely begun to see what can be done with this tech. though I don't honestly think it's as revolutionary as the hype. Really just increases efficiency in a lot of applications. Then again, same shit can be said about a transistor vs vacuum tubes.

>>14923190

You really have no idea how this shit works do you? Your explanations have absolutely no basis on reality.

This is the same thread

>Really just increases efficiency in a lot of applications.

No it fucking doesn't. Crypto-anything involves a fucking consensus algorithm for an ideally decentralized network which is the shitload of computation that miners do and the whole loads of power they burn. The same reason why a bitcoin transaction takes hours while a credit card one takes seconds.

Which doesn't mean a game is decentralized either if

Yeah, and like a sleep deprived idiot, I failed to even copypasta my own thread.
