Love them. They're quick, hard, have a lot of personality and fun to replay over and over. The reboot was also pretty damn good despite how janky it was.

The first two are just basic sidescrollers while the later 2 are are beat em ups, which is why >>14922312 is kinda retarded for making that comparison and expecting something that it isn't.

The first two are certainly the best, but they are not games to be played for the gameplay as they are basic as all fuck, but instead enjoyed for its horror elements.

Dead Space makes for a pretty good 3D spiritual successor to the first two games if you wanted something more like those instead of the third and fourth game.

Splatterhouse has a great horror aesthetic. Very gorey and grim. Top notch soundtracks, too.

This. But i would say that only Splatterhouse 2 is like that.

1 is the type that is hard without being fun. And 3 becomes boring after a while.

2 is the best one to play over and over again.

Too fucking hard. Neat aesthetic though.

That its a shame the remake died like that, it could have been much better and we could have more rip'n'tear games.
