So i've been playing some Warhammer with friends and out of the post revamp shit one thing i actually liked the idea of quite a bit was a mechanic the new Deep Sea Elves use called "The Aethersea".

What happens is these elves that need to raid human coastal towns for souls since their children are stillborn without souls of their own due to slaanesh fuckery use a military force based entirely on tamed/magically bound sea predators, deep sea magic and elves with no eyes and pale skin suited for the sea floor.

To get by they summon an ethersea which makes land behave like deep sea. Blood from wounds bubbles up into clouds, a thick murky air blocks the sunlight like its deep below the ocean surface and as plants and trees behave like seaweed caught in a current barnacles, coral and even ghostly shipwrecks erupt into reality all around these towns now caught at the bottom of a magical sea. The elves then ride in on sharks and eels and giant turtles and shit to steal humans and then when they retreat and the aethersea recedes it takes all memory of the attack with it. Letting them farm the same villages for centuries.

So basically imagine Silent Hills Otherworld transition but instead its deep sea shit. The only game that did this i can think of was a tiny section of Dear Esther where you walk along a english motorway under the sea but fuck i need more.

What shit do you really want to see put in games that never really has been already?

I'd like to see a game where it's a strategy RPG town management game but you can pick and choose a role to play from the many NPCs at any time. You can hop in to an explorer's body, find a nice vein of ore, hop in to a miner's body and then go to the location and set up a camp, and get other miners to follow you. Haul the ore back to the village and switch to the smith so you can do the smithing mini-game and create some wares. Switch to being a trader to trade supplies and make some money from other nearby settlements with the crafted goods.

Basically like Banished but with slice-of-life Harvest Moon/Rune Factory stuff included.

Wait, does it work like actual water?

Are the humans drowning in this "aethersea"? Or are they breathing normally? Do the elves breathe normally? I assume it changes the consistency of the atmosphere since blood flows skyward and sharks are riding through the "air".

Anyway it's an interesting idea but I don't think my need for consistency, even within fantastic realms of magic and elves, could be satiated by such tomfoolery.

How about a game that's nothing but wobbly, smokey, drug-induced, hallucinogenic environments? Might hurt my eyes after a while but might be kinda cool too. I've only seen Uncharted 3 and Hotline Miami 2 try to attempt this.

Open world RPGs. Where what you do can shape the world. Conversations matter, has a good combat system dependent on what kind of stats and traits you have. Etc. NV is the closest but lacks some shit like changing the world outside of end-credits, good combat and other stuff.

you can breath and move but its laboured, but they eyeless, pale skinned deepkin adapted to it and move better than you.

plus imagine running down an alleyway to escape a shark only to see an octopus slinking along with an intelligence malevolence in its eyes and a bunch of knives its dragging along the buildings on either side like freddy krueger. you can run in a house, slam and bolt the door but its just going to squeeze down the chimney after you.

Not bad.

Also guns and cars stop working properly. Guns shot but have range of only 3-10 feet. And it becomes dark and misty like so humans can't see far. So suddenly shark riding elves having underwater senses and armed with spears and harpoon guns have an advantage in the war.

A mansion or a castle surrounded by forest which isn't just a back ground or a small area, but fully featured game world where you can get yourself lost.

A lot of games play with this idea, but there just isn't fully realized one yet.

Alternatively just forest itself, huge and thick, but again not just being a decoration or small area to pass through in some shitty themepark trip.

I know the idea is meme'd to death and haram on /v/ but give me an open world castlevania thats a fuckhueg germanic forest with micro dungeons and dotted around a 1-3 boss large settlement/dungeon all leading to castle dracula in the middle. Like the best elements of Demon's Souls and Breath of the Wild with a ton of dense as fuck forest on top of it.

I want to see a proper scavenging game. You explore several planets or continents depending on your settings. You start out exploring a derelict ship and have to gather anything of value before larger groups of armed scavengers claim the spoils for themselves. If you're quick and careless you'll damage the components and if you're slow and thorough the chances of getting out in one piece go down. If you're caught by a guard then you can negotiate, kill or partner up with him and take out the other scavengers and split the loot or double cross him and keep it for yourself.

I want to say its like post world war one where there's a lot of manufacturing and resources going towards the war effort. Lots of those factories are now tooled to rebuilding and developing infrastructure while some of them keep producing consumer grade weapons and war machines for scavengers at a cost. They keep a tight reign on surpluses part in order to keep them dependent on the manufactures keeping it profitable and charge more for equipment that's upgraded with scavenged parts.

I couldn't find a proper picture so have some cropped porn

I'm actually kind of bummed that I can't play as a dirty space bum tearing out fuel cells for cash or raiding the ships armory and selling it back to the empire it came from

BDO has good locking forests that you can actually run around but there is nothing in them.

Xenoblade X has good alien tropical forest, but it becomes small once you get your hands on flying mechs.

Good mansion games are mostly old and feature tank controls like Resident Evil or Vampire Hunter D.

an RPG with an actual ecosystem that the player can affect, with game time stretching over many years so you can see the results of your actions. The goblins in the swamp next to the village? Those do not spawn; they get born. Kill all of them and there will be no more goblins in the future, allowing the villagers to go and mine peat there, or drain the swamp and put something else there, etc. If you only kill some, the goblin problem will remian unsolved. If you kill very few or none at all, the goblins will go on to slaughter the village and grow in power and number to become a regional threat. The game would track the number and location of all those goblins – the quest would only point you to one place to get the quest item and go back, but if you wanted to do a thorough job, you'd need to explore the swamp on your own and raid their various caves and hiding spots (likely picking up a few side quests along the way, but you'd never discover them without first exploring, as they wouldn't be given in the village itself).

Sounds like another corporate researcher thread.

Never give ideas for free to corporate suits.

>not just imitating the most popular games on twitch or what metadata shows makes the most money.

Better turn in that degree in marketing goy chan.
