Annihiliation was total dogshit, and not in an enjoyable way. Mortal Kombat certainly wasn't a good movie, but it was definitely a dumb fun one, but the sequel was devoid of even that while ratcheting up the stupidity. The only thing I could actually remember about it was Liu Kang spending the entire movie training to turn into a bad CGI dragon.
Now that I look at the plot synopsis again, it really isn't that much different from the actual MK story, if not in details, then in spirit. Maybe Mortal Kombat was always destined to be retarded.

It was just a really dull experience. They took the idea of the FFX spirits and turned it into some shitty sci-fi flick that was almost all gray and blue. Though honestly even i forgot what the movie was about, all I remember was that I (and everyone else I knew) hated it. Only thing I remember is them talking about harvesting the spirits for energy I don't fucking know. I think the issue is that people were expecting swords and magic like in the actual games. Instead, again, we got a setting that was almost entirely sci-fi with not even a hint of medieval or heroic influence.
Fun to remind people it exists though.

The only thing the first film did sort of okay was recreating the look of the town. That's it. There's nothing inherently good or entertaining otherwise. Some games just aren't meant to be translated to film, because it loses so much of what made the game good in the first place. Silent Hill is a slow burn, always has been. It always emphasized dread ahead of jump scares and the like. In an hour and a half film, you're not going to get that. And the only film even close to getting what Silent Hill did right was Jacob's Ladder, and that was so far removed from what Silent Hill actually is.
And then you have the second Silent Hill film. Does it have atmosphere? No. Does it have any pretense of horror? Not after like two minutes. But what it does have is a particular quotient of being so goddamn ridiculous it ceases from being the dull and drab bullshit the first movie was, and transcends into pure schlock. And it works because of that.

The only vidya movie I ever liked (from beginning to end) was that comfy, slice-of-life 2006 Animal Crossing movie. It might've had a simplistic story with cutesy characters, but I feel like it captured the game series' charm rather well imo.
My second favorite is that decent Professor Layton movie. It was honestly a fantastic movie (the storytelling and puzzles were truly intriguing in the first half imo) but then once the characters find a wooden cabin in the forest, the story seriously starts shitting the bed hard after that. Spoilers: Grasshopper helicopter rides and then a huge fucking mecha outta nowhere? C'mon now.
I also can't remember if I liked that animated Resident Evil Degeneration movie or not. I remember that it had Leon (one of my favorite protagonists ever) but that's about it. Everything else was forgettable, apparently.

Hunters of nowadays are descendants of the super soldiers who were born and bred for combat (and likely got fuckstrong by eating monster parts regularly). Likewise, the variety of monsters nowadays are actually ecological niche fillers left in the gap after the masses of elder dragons were similarly nearly wiped out. Most people who exist often are building on the ruins of some utterly destroyed past civilization. Notably, the village in Tri sits on top of an entire fortress that is simply gigantic.
Further proof of this is the monster Gogmazios. It's actions lead one to believe it's not a normal monster, what with it's rotting, tar like body. It's roar is that of a harsh mechanical screech and it's breath weapon is a concentrated laser blast, which is far more refined and controlled than even Agnaktor, Gravios, or any known elder dragon. Most telling is it's actions upon "waking up" or activating:

>doesn't harm anyone and instead makes for one of the oldest forts, taking the Dragonator and affixing it to it's back in a position intended to be used offensively
>goes to the biggest, oldest city that has a designated Elder Dragon Killbox and promptly just sits there
It's often agreed that the Gogmazios is an equal dragon weapon that was re-activated accidentally, equipped it's self for battle, and then was awaiting any incoming elder dragons that would show up and if it had a computer-like brain, chances are it knew there were shitloads of elder dragons popping up as of late, such as chameleos and kushala daora, that had recently assaulted the city.
