That reminds me, it's a bit of a stretch and I'm close to shoehorning this one in but there's another song that has some queer similarities with Elec Man's theme or, in this case, the Entertainment System/Megas interpretation of it.

Admittedly I might be the only one that hears it. I mean, it's not so much the entire songs, rather parts of them that feel familiar to each other, and Kouda did work on both games.

It think there's some song that's practically identical in all the games it's been in. I haven't found it yet, but I'm pretty sure it was in both a DS pokemon games and a PS1 RPG called eternal eyes.

the entirety of Mark Morgan's Fallout's music was based on temp stuff from Aphex twin and Brian Eno (compare Alternative 3 with vats of goo. Great pseudodocumentary btw), so temp music ain't the problem.

anyway, not vidya, but there was a controversy of this kind with anime composer Yoko Kanno's music. Even I hear cues from Gabriel's Rhythm of the Heat (or the Birdy version, the Heat), which I don't think anyone mentioned in the many "Kanno is a plagiarist/hack" threads.

I really couldn't care less for the similarities, Kanno and Morgan have proven to be amazing original composers in their careers. I could actually use more composers using things that are genuinely good for their inspiration. I really enjoy their variations on truly inspired classics.

The problem these days is that most composers are either imitating or being the student of that hack ((((((Zimmer)))))), who is the quintessence of bland, mass produced shit.

Steve Jablonsky is one of Zimmer's students. He made the transformers OSTs and… totally ruined Command & Conquer music. His pal Tim Wynn is much more talented but still turned and wrote the piece of shit that is XCOM 2 OST.

Gotta cleanse the palette.

Much of VTMb was based on composition from the Matrix, and Joss Whendon's Buffy verse, ESPECIALLY the Downtown theme which has the flair of the ending part of the Angel - Sanctuary theme of the opening when he's in the alleyway.

Unrelated to the thread, but are there any other musical families that have been nearly as successful as the Jackson's? It just seems weird to me that two siblings would both go on to some of the wealthiest and famous figures in the industry.
