We’re creating a video game in RPG Maker VX Ace together with other anons.

Here’s how it works.

Everyone is taking turns downloading the newest version of the game, making contributions before reuploading it for someone else to work on it. Only one person can actively work on it at a time. This is because if two people make overlapping changes to the database, scripts or switches, they will conflict resulting in one person having to redo all their work. Changes to the map and events can be copy-pasted from one version of a project to another so you’re free to work on new maps and new events if its not your turn and add them to the current version of the game once it is your turn.

It should work like this. OP posts newest version of the map. The first person (Anon #1) to respond to OP stating that he’s going to work on it becomes the active game dev. Once Anon #1 finishes and re-uploads it, the first person to respond to him gets to work on it. So on and so forth. Additionally, whenever you re-upload a new version, reply to the anchor post, it’ll make things a lot easier.

General Rules

>Don’t mess with maps, events or anything else you didn’t make. Although, adding minor stuff like a connection between two areas or fixing bugs and typos is all fine.

>If you’re ok with others editing your stuff, leave a note saying so.

>You’re free to add characters and the like, to the inter-dimensional tavern.

>You’re also free to make changes to game settings, unless its something we’ve agreed upon (we’ll probably do this via a poll)

We decided in the last thread that we’re using VX Ace. We’re not changing this again. Get it out of your head right now. If you made content in MV you’ll have to back port it to VX Ace. It sucks, but we’re not doing any more engine changes.

THE STORY SO FAR

>anon needs to find his vidya

<there is a door to the interdimensional tavern which acts a hub for NPCs and teleporters to previous sections of the game

I'll try to summarize what happens later

<Anyhow, no matter what happens Teagan joins anon on his quest

So I've had a rough outline for the overall story of the game in mind since the first incarnation of the project, and I figure now I might as well actually put it explicitly to text. In short, I see a story about the theme of ~the transcendent creative potential of the human spirit;~ playing that theme out over the course of two acts across the multiverse we'd just started building in the first incarnation of the project. I'll type my outline out over a couple of posts now, continuing on from where the story left off at >>14828939.

I swore to myself I'd play through Nocturne and Digital Devil Saga before trying to finalise my vision of the game's story, for the relevance of the themes of each of those games, but fug it; I wasn't expecting the game's development to get picked back up by other anons and yet here we are with the game being worked on again and my being only like halfway through Nocturne.

You might find that it goes a bit against the nature of this project to have this well-defined storyline, but note that a big idea in my vision of the story is to really emphasise its having a lot of room in it for all the different stories that different anons might tell along the way. The ideal would be for it to really not be allowed to get in the way of peoples' ideas at all, but I hope that with the very broad focus of this outline and its emphasis on all these different possibilities of what's really at play in different parts of it, it wouldn't really have to get to that point at all from the game being developed along the lines of this outline.

You had some similar ideas to me anon, because I also was thinking about incorporating some higher multi-dimensional force in the interdimensional tavern before I came up with the giant robot idea. But I thought about it in the sense of it being a "Secret 100% last boss that was really behind it all along" instead of an overarching storyline. Here's some ideas for the weeb areas to breathe some life into the thread, feel free to take some or all of them.

>The weeb areas consist of small Japanese-styled villages around Mt. Waifu as well as a castle, cities and a monastery further up.

>Shogun turns out to be Rance

>Through the entire segment, anon is fighting D.Nuvo's general who is leading the attack, and everything culminates with a boss battle with him

>Meanwhile it turns out that the vidya thief has stolen all of weeb vidya, and anon and the party manage to meet him before he escapes.

>He comments that he wanted the weebs to be destroyed to fulfil his master plan, but says that this is even better because now D.Nuvo won't grow too much in power and mockingly thanks anon for the help, then he escapes before the party can do anything.

This new version gives me a 'Unable to find file: Audio/BGM/1. Stone Mask ~Prologue~' in the forest area.

the older 0.23.5.5 version doesn't throw that crash at me and has just the audio file called 'stone mask' instead. probably to avoid the crashing with the ~~~~ symbols?

Also i'm stuck and can't move in the Summerfag area where the 4cuck Moderator brings me to D.nuvo's HQ.

When the halfchan mod moves offscreen he gets stuck at the events on top of the stairs because events can't move through each other since he ate to many hot pockets.
