Speaking of bad Chinese players, tencent hosted a private PoE race for Chinese streamers to compete against international streamers. Literally none of the Chinese players finished the race. They are so used to being able to pay to respawn that as soon as its not an option they are crippled. It's actually very sad, due to awful censorship laws etc many Chinese gamers have never been able to play a game that lets you get good.

To be fair Path of Exile was always Pay to Play game. You can play a little but than later you will need more stash tabs. But after having 20 you dont need more, so its fixed price to play the game. Except new stupid stash tabs which cost like 5$ and you only need one, released every second league.
Also I remember clearly that they had a fucking inventory extensions on chinese servers if that were real screenshots. So you can expect a lot of changes to inventory system, because GGG always was selling stash tabs and now they will go in overdrive with it, because tencent will need to get profits from the money they invested. Its not like they weren't inventing new stash tabs every league before.
If if wasnt tencent there will be chance that they really hire good people to draw mtx and shit, but that is impossible now. Android shit monetization here we go!

Do for act 4 they changed it to a theme that fit the two dreams of major characters. Dareso (lion from the arenas), and Kaom (skulls with tribal markings on them). Well in League of Legends they managed to turn everything into lootboxes. Now you don't get points for playing. You get exp points and once you hit one of infinite levels you get a lootbox. They also removed skill trees and runes. Now you have 7 passive abilities, which seems like they have depth but in reality are made to be copied from the internet. There also seems to be some event constantly to keep you playing on daily basis.
So they basically turned everything towards being more addicting and you looking up youtubers.

But GD is the most casual semi-relevant ARPG on the market. There's actually less player skill required than fucking D3 of all thnigs, and you can gear up in about a day. It's not a bad game by any means, but don't pretend it's not designed from the ground up for casuals.

I actually took the plunge and looked at reddit and, surprise surprise, the mods there are whiteknighting hard for GGG and their new chinese overlords, and anyone that was actually unhappy about it has already left or been shouted down/banned.

Yes, but it hasn't been GGG's PoE since Ascendancy/2.0 launched and spiraled the game into a casual lootparty. War for The Atlas was finally starting to turn the game around in some ways, but they absolutely blew it after and followed it up with this kikery.

You must have not been around much for the old system. It's essentially the same shit except you get the capsules for leveling up now and the rune IP sink is gone.
Not to defend the jewish nature of the monetization, but it is definitely no worse than it has been in the past.
