I need to talk to someone who's not real, I need a world and dialogues I can lose myself in.

Beyond maybe 2 or 3 AAA games that almost deliver this experience I don't see any titles for the last decade that do that. The worlds in games like Tyranny are inane, filled with retarded premises and originel' Sanic the Edgehog-type characters. I feel like immersion in rpgs is dying, replaced by some kind of checklist of gimmicks.

Fuck, are there dialogue heavy indie games? I need my fix.

Have you tried books?

All the good writers are working in TV or movies. You know, industries where you can actually make a living.

>the game medium already provided the experience once but lemme shit on you for wanting something I don't

Why don't you go inna woods play indians and cowboys with a bunch of drunk retards instead of playing fps games? Hell, at least that still would be interactive.

Not sure if the writers are the problem, man. Did they have world class writers for Fallout 1 and 2? No way, the approach had to change, not the staff quality.

When I was in my teen and early 20s I would read a lot of fantasy novels, mainly from David Eddings. I know he's a bit of a Tolkien rip off and some of his series are far better than others but they can be really comfy. If you're interested give The Redemption of Althalus a try. It's stand a lone so you don't need to know anything previous or follow on after, but it's a meaty book and kept me entertained for a couple of weeks. I've re-read it a few times, full of adventure, fantasy, think i'll give it another read.

Have you tired Legends of Eisenwald?

Playing RPGs for dialogues alone is just dumb, you're never gonna get the experience a book or even a visual novel gives. That said, the closest thing there is to good story is old RPGs like neverwinter nights 2 and its DLCs, planescape torment and all the other meme isometric rpg games.

Maybe Divinity:Original Sin 1&2, although i found the combat to be the greatest part of it, not the story.
