personally even in 3 I dont sip until my opponent does, somewhat as a courtesy but moreso to help me count his sips and make sure I stay ahead in the estus game

if I am outnumbered I know there is a good chance that if I am going to win the fight at all then I will get some estus back at some point, so I go ahead and sip whenever it convenient there

"Made for" is very wrong. Online was a decent chunk of the game, in both DeS and DS, but wasn't the focus. Far from it. Considering you can play the games completely PvP free, I'd say that no, they weren't made for PvP.

What went from a cool little gimmick that was something a bit new, to being improved upon in DS, turned into some generic 1v1 game. DS invasions can be really unique but most just opt for straight up fights. How boring can people be? Plus the terrible netcode and bugs/glitches people abuse. What's the point in caring about a shitty PvP component in that way when you could do something more creative? Use chameleon to hide in the stage, block a narrow passage with a tank build, fuck with them in Sen's Fortress. The direction of PvP should have been more in that direction, doing something you can't do in 99% of other online PvP games.

Instead the PvP fags became vocal and ruined weapons and spells for balance. Balance in a series about being a merciless invader if you choose to PvP.

This right here, Demon's souls PvP was a thing to add even more threat to an unfair world. People could choose to be the monster and as a result a community grew of Co Op because of it. Invasions were supposed to be unfair as a deterrent to go human because going human and dying would fuck up world tendency.

But then in Dark Souls they took out that whole thing and made the stakes shorter and shorter and made PvP just something you can do as a call out to the fact Demon's Souls had it. And then with Dark Souls 3 they made pvp so important that almost all builds except quality are unfun because they cared too much about fucking pvp and to add insult to injury they made pvp unfun because 9 times out of 10 it's just gank fests unless you do the Arena, which surprise, didn't get much better from the Battle of Stoicism.

Healing is frowned upon in DS3, most invaders don't heal unless there's a gank squad or the host heals.

It wouldn't be any different for the remaster.

This kind of attitude toward estus I like just as much as people who don't drink unless their opponent does first (like myself). It adds variety to the PvP. However, this kind of "do whatever necessary to win" mentality bred a very frustrating kind of cheater. Again, there is nothing wrong with people who estus first or gank for that matter. It's part of the game and it's fun. However, there were a shitton of cheaters that popped infinite Divine Blessings and Mushrooms and thought of themselves as being in the same boat as estus chuggers. Basically, they got to cheat and feel like they were just being 'dishonorable.' Which is why I'm excited for the remaster. You can't use DBs anymore. Sure, they're will be cheaters that turn off their life bars, but they'll know that they're cheating. And they'll know just how bad they are when they lose anyway. DB/Mushroom cheaters were literally my least favorite part of the game. And now they're dead.

Estus as a phantom just cuts out the middle man, but it's still a worse system since you had to build around faith if you wanted to heal in PVE as a phantom. Not healing as a darkwraith was bullshit though, humanity farming was a trash thing too.
