This is somewhat alleviated by being able to take control of vehicles, and that was one of the cooler aspects of the game. I also liked the concept of going through RTS-type levels in first-person. The worst parts are the repetitive structures, slow walking segments, escort missions (fucking mission 10), and the last level which should've been the best one.
Also funny that unlike the multiplayer, you can load up on more weapons than Doom guy. Some are functionally straight upgrades though while the weaker variations stop showing up as you progress. Also sadly you cannot acquire the shotgun, and while there is an enemy with the upgraded sniper rifle (the n00b weapon in multiplayer), and he even drops it, you cannot actually jump up to where he is. What a tease.
