8bde88 No.14793232

What do y'all hope to see in the next Animal Crossing game?

I'd like to see a mix of New Leaf and HHD, some City Folk in there.

Play as a town planner instead of a mayor so you can have a bit more control over the town by designating some spots villagers can't move in to as parks and what not, keep the public works still in there.

Make it so you can plant down empty homes which you can control the layout of which villagers can move in to, or leave behind when they leave. So you can effectively upgrade their housing and give rooms different shapes beyond a square (Do this for your own house too, square rooms are a way of the past)

Keep the RV camps but remove the amiibo shit

You can send mail to villagers who've lived in your town before and possibly get them back in. Also send mail online.

More time based events. Like in the morning some villagers do tai chi or whatever it was, others go out fishing together, at night they gather in the city. Maybe make public work projects interact with this, like a projector screen where villagers watch movies on friday nights.

Bring back rude villagers, hell make it a whole personality type. Or maybe rework personalities so each villager gets a different mix of them.

Randomized faces, like no questions or anything for it you just get whatever the game gives you.

More room layouts would be nice, doesn't have to be autistic like the Sims but I'm glad new leaf added a lot more house customization, hope they expand on it. At this point it's probably pointless to ask for the grid map back, but I'd love for it to return, theres something about it that I like that I can't pinpoint. Honestly not sure what else they can do to expand on the formula, new leaf did giant leaps with the series, I just hope they continue with it.

>More opportunities for casual conversations with special villagers

>Features from HHD, specifically being able to place items around your house, outside

>Ability to acquire more mannequins

The thing is Animal Crossing games have no failure state. You can't lose your house or starve or anything. The closest thing is maybe your approval rating sinking in the one where you're the mayor. So in hindsight, perhaps I was wrong to call them debt simulators because they're even less than that. They are mindless, hand-holding time sinks with easy gratification, entirely optional goals and nothing else. The only things AC offers that resemble risk in any capacity are investing money in turnips and interacting with NPCs who can maybe steal your items at random.

Even Bethesda's shallow sandbox semi-walking simulator shovelware is closer to a real video game than AC. The AC IP was the prototype to the smartphone timesink junkware that plagues gaming today. The only thing that makes AC more respectable is it has no paid DLC or microtransactions (unless you count eReader).

It doesn't need a lose state because you're always in one. Its human nature to want more, and every time you can't afford a shiny new crown or a villager you liked moves out thats a loss. Like fuck wish I had more cash or fuck I wish I befriended him.

Its a game of small loss and small victory.

I'm pretty sure villager NPCs move out randomly. It may be a loss, but it's not a failure. Not that I ever felt any real loss with them, as they're nothing but copypasted personality traits with just a bit of unique catchphrase text sprinkled in. Animal Crossing is the pinnacle of lazy console game design.

On the topic of items, you can afford just about everything on sale if you grind enough within the day. Special luxury items like the crown are the very rare exception. I'm pretty sure there's only a few of them in each game.

000000 No.14794524

I want the snarky dialogue to come back, actual dialogue, villagers that fight and you can't befriend both, secret parts of the world to explore, actual dynamic and meaningful relationships. More decisions that permanently impact your game and unpredictable happenings.

It doesn't need any major gameplay overhauls, they just need to give a shit for once about the simple foundation they have. And I'm sure they won't and I am sure it's going to be even blander than New Leaf.

8bde88 No.14794551

>>14794284

Villagers can move out randomly, but its actually an effect of friendship.

According to you, a game consisting of a button that shows a game over screen when pressed is a 10/10 game, whereas AC is not. According to your stupid definition, Fable II is a for all intents and purposes a non-game that is in fact a game due to the fact that you can get a temporary loss state if you try real hard to get yourself killed.

>Let me move things in big groups, instead of one at a time

>Let me see if an item can be re-purchased from the catalogue so don't accidentally sell something important

The amount of items I have to manage eventually exceeds my willingness to painstakingly organize everything, and I end up with a mountains of trash pouring out of my home.

There's a lot of silly things in the game that could be optimized like that.

Like, Cyrus will ask what ore you want to use to modify an item, and despite only having one in your inventory, it will still make you select it. You deliver an item to someone, and despite having only one delivery, you still have to select it, and so on. An unnecessary step, it seems.

Make it a Dwarf Fortress clone with Factorio construction mechanics.

Bring back constellations

customizable limit to number of villagers in town (not a major feature, but I could see some people wanting more or less villagers)

ability to keep or kick out certain villagers more easily

more multiplayer shit (like CtF) that you can do with villagers and friends, and also initiate yourself (I liked hide and seek, but only a villager could start the game)

ability to trade without just dropping items for each other (and hoping the other guy isn't an ass)

ask for chores directly again

if you pick up bells while your inventory is full, you should be able to place them into your wallet directly like you used to in the original

similarly, picking up anything while the inventory is full should give us an option to stack them with duplicate items

In the original it was automatically selected for you, so you just had to press A to deliver it. I have no idea why the new games make you manually select the item now.

Tasks, Events, Planning, etc. More overall interaction between villagers and things to do. Like inviting friends to go fishing, sports, board games, hiking, baking, snowball fight, help out, etc. Sort of like mini-games to add more life into the game and make it feel like more of a lived in world instead of a static village. And with that, the ability to visit other towns and play with the villagers that live there. Only they wouldn't rely on you or ask favors while you're visiting.

Character specific or more unique dialogue would be nice, and I wouldn't mind less villagers if it meant having more interesting or higher quality ones. I think some sort of small talk feature or chatting options should be implemented too where you can ask how their day is going and whatnot. Or ask them things like about their favorite foods, music, styles, games, etc. Some sort of friendship level or affinity like Pocket Camp had would be nice actually or some sort of way to strengthen your bonds or friendships with certain villagers.

Having letters actually matter would be nice too. Like being able to write to villagers who have left or that you've met from other towns. And it'd be nice if they could provide a meaningful response, like something along the lines of "I enjoyed playing _ with you" or "It was nice to share common interests in _ with someone." Or even being able to ask them for specific items like plants to grow and have them response with "I'll keep an eye out for _ for you" or something, so that way you don't need to rely on villagers randomly giving you the right things you need.

And more detailed events, tasks, and activities. Like to being able to farm all sorts of food and cook up all sorts of meals. Having gossip would be fun too and could help provide more reason or fun in rude villagers. Like providing information on other villagers saying stuff like "I hear _ has been interested in _ recently, but honestly I don't think they're very good at it." And I could see that being helpful in giving hints as to what other villagers like or want to do. Even for other players, it'd be fun if their villagers dropped information about the certain things they do. I have loads of ideas ranging from villagers to shops and activities, events. I just want them to make Animal Crossing feel all that bit more real.

Definitely, it'd be nice if you could host house parties to make more use of your designs and have villagers talk about them or even just to spend time with them.

You can't say its worst game when amiibo festival exists. Villagers added to this game means they aren't irrelevant.
