You could argue that the nanomachines would somehow force the body of their host to slow down in case it was exceeding it's physical limits like during an adrenaline rush thus suppressing them would be beneficial in the short term but then it comes into direct conflict with other things in the game but that's par for the course when you're looking at the clusterfuck that's MGS4.
