Which vidya is best for finding friends? What games will find good friends? Zombie-games? MMOs? RTS games?

Left 4 Dead and Soul Caliber V were good games to find friends. I never found good long-term friends in an MMORPG. RTS games are surprisingly friendly too. Let's have good games to make friends.

Online interactions are by their nature shit.

The best, most reasonable community I've encountered are the people who play LOTRO as far as MMOs go. I would never be friends with someone I don't know IRL though.

Shooters, namely games which have community servers where alltalk is enabled and loads of people openly use their mics (through the actual server) to talk about whatever as they play the game.

I've been meaning to make a thread about this, but that is what modern shooters are missing. Matchmakers and disagreement need to burn in hell.

Over the years the people you'll find in these multiplayer "communities" have degenerated into complete and utter shit so compared to 10-15 yrs ago to now your chances of finding good friends is pretty low no matter where you'd look. The only two tips I could give is find a game you really enjoy playing and avoid anything f2p like the plague then hope for the best.

Maybe VR chat if you just want to hang out and not play video games while you do so? I don't know man, I'm just spitballing here but that's one of the few social "games" where you get to interact with people in any meaningful way if finding friends is your main goal.

I rarely made friends in video games and nowadays I never do.

True. Hell even if you're not specifically looking for friends, interactions have chanced a ton. Partially because the games changed, but this new generation is hugely different to even, say, 6 or 7 years ago.

Honestly, your best bet is to find games which require a combination of teamwork and intricate knowledge of game systems. A good example is combat flight sims, or even F2P games like War Thunder and even Mechwarrior Online. It's true that the pricing model of these games is shit, but it's surprisingly easy to find people who want to play with you in a group if you want to, probably easier than any genre I know of. Plus it tends to attract generally more relaxed older men instead of young dickheads.

Back in the day most FPS servers would be filled with dick-sucking "communities" that would bitch and whine whenever a decent unknown player connected. Alongside that they would often have the dumbest fucking rules possible, or play the same 3 maps over and over since the admins would get assblasted on anything else. TF2 was especially bad for both of those points. TF2 had valve-run servers that were great, but no alltalk and nobody really used their mics on them. Now they're probably filled with kids or something, who knows.

This guy is completely correct, although they were already shit 10 years ago. F2P isn't bad if it's a niche game, I made friends with some fags playing World of Tanks a long time ago, but forget anything that is popular+F2P, or even par+F2P.
