Yes. Also, this might be a minor spoiler but it's good enough information that deserves to be passed to new players who just begun the game.

Later on Rex gains the ability to equip any blade from other characters (not gonna divulge the conditions behind it, obviously, don't want to ruin your story), and through normal play you can get 3 overdrives, items that allow you to switch a blade between characters. That means that the moment you draft 3 rare blades from cores on Rex you should stop opening cores on him. You can use overdrives on those 3 blades to assign them to other characters, and still equip them on Rex later on.

I actually agree, having played it with JP audio. My complaint with the game is that they didn't do a sub track for the JP audio as well. I understand enough to get the gist of the scenes without relying too heavily on the subs but having all the names fucked up was pretty jarring regardless.

XCX was a good start to an open world series, but it's far from perfect. That, and the localization is complete shit. I played it a ton, and had a great time with it ,and I also loosely documented how bad the localization was through the game. People are always bitching about the memes and the censorship, which definitely exists, but late game you start to see massive inconsistencies (Lin Lee bounces between Lin Lee and Linly in text late game), typos, and tons of really, really lazy things that don't even appear to be proof read.

A port wouldn't be worth it. Monolith made a really good effort with XCX to make an open world game, specially for Wii U being such shit from a performance standpoint. But an XCX2 would be miles better, they could fix a lot of the MMO quests that lack backstory and are just "go collect X of Y because Z". Not to mention there's no way they'd spend the money to re-localize such a large game.

I've been hoping that XCX spins off into its own Xenoblade, and ends up a more hardcore open world series for Nintendo. They can leave Zelda as semi-open world baby game and make XCX series a hardcore open world JRPG, and leave regular XC as a tried and true, quality traditional JRPG. Nintendo really likes to have different franchises represent difficulty. Perfect example in platformers where Nintendo has Kirby as the easiest platformer, Yoshi is a little bit harder, Mario is moderately difficult, and Donkey Kong Country can get hardcore. I think that's why a lot of people are pissed F-Zero hasn't come back yet. It was Nintendo's hardcore racer, with Mario Kart being the most casual and Diddy Kong Racing filling in the middle. Now Nintendo just has casual racing, and people don't like it.

I've spent over 100 hours in XCX and XC2. They are completely different experiences, but I like the battle system, story, localization, and characters in XC2 far better than XCX. XC2 is a better game. The thing that really stands out in XCX (besides the shit things like localization) is the exploration. XC2 just doesn't have it like XCX has, and there's something really comfy about landing on an alien planet, exploring it, and trying to make a life there with a bunch of other people.

My advice on XCX is to skip it and hope that Monolith can make an open world Xenoblade and a traditional JRPG like Chronicles.

Well, I did some reading, looks like you want to make sure Rex has some good blades. I bonded all the good ones to everyone else because of the master blade thing, so I'm sort of fucked.

Only thing you really lose are the blades you unlock along the way, like the spoiler blade. I'm going to hold off on starting NG+ for now but I think I'm going to get some good blades on Rex and start getting things organized. For example, a really good salvage point is at the later part of the game, best to just farm some more gold before. Though I'm not sure what it's needed for exactly.

What people forget about XCX is even with the shit localization its pretty easy to see that the story is shit in Japanese too.

Emulate and have fun exploring and playing with your Mech, if you play it without a uncensor patch you get to laugh at the stupid and lazy ways they tried to censor it. My favourite is the armor sets that makes you kind of look like a naked alien where not only did they badly drew a bikini on Lin's version but then forgot to add one to the highest level version of that set.

I hope, if the series continues as its own spin off, that they greatly improve ground and even Mech combat and completely drop the setting of the first.

I've got a question about the Sleep Mode weirdness. I'm planning on getting a Switch soon, and pirating Xenoblade 2 when it becomes possible to load games.
