You don't necessarily have to play as Conan, the setting is developed enough to sustain itself. It would be neat to be able to make your own character and explore the world in a well written cRPG. Sadly, there's no developer talented enough in the West to make such a game fun, and even if they could the setting would trigger their leftist sensibilities and they'd shit it up on purpose.

i miss the /v/ pirate server that happened on launch but the admin got bummed that his "trump towwer" got wreaked by some salty asshat that wandered onto the server after he got bullied for blocking thrall spawns. only for his whole clan to be wiped off the face of the server but after we did that no one really cared anymore. its an ark clone without dinosaurs to ride, supposedly they added camels or horses or some shit to ride. along with "siege equipment" to bust into tier 3 bases, without having to farm dragons. but the map size is tiny and not randomly generated. the "final boss" can have its treasure chest ninja looted and as far as i know doesn't drop shit. the "modding community" while backed by epic games for the full unreal experience only allows for asset swaps and number tweaks.(no new scripts) so there is no hope of some dedicated autists making the game fucking playable. but i got to say the week and a half the server was up was fun, if for no other reason than hanging out with /v/.who the fuck picked fucking pazzak for fucking /v/ game night?

Why would they bother when they continue to rake in money with early access? Even if they're no longer getting sales for early access, what's the point in releasing? There would be no incentive, they've made their money already and if people aren't buying the early access there's probably nobody gonna buy after release.

They were probably relying on the nudity being the big draw, and while that probably worked to bait most into buying it, it's not enough to base your entire business model off of. You can't spend hours looking at virtual dicks and tits and not eventually get bored when it's just masking the building and survival aspects.

Correct. I've started reading the Conan books recently, I've read the first three and Conan uses sorcery every time. Granted, it's strictly for 'fighting fire with fire.'

Anyway, between my love of the books and the fact that the 1982 film is my all-time favorite movie, I'm actually planning on buying Conan Exiles. Please don't mistake me for a shill, I'm not encouraging anyone else to purchase it, and I fully understand why you all would mock me for choosing to do so. However, I think the game actually looks pretty decent (save for a handful of bugs) and seems to take a lot from the source material. It looks like one of those games that comes along once in a great while that I think I could actually enjoy, so I'll probably pick it up soon.
