I like the novelty of GoldSrc's obsolescence. The limited texture sizes, theslightly less detailed models, the compressed audio, the snappy AI pathfinding, the weapon physics (despite being kinda shit), the flying corpses that play death animations in mid-air after being blown up, etc.
I just like its "oldness". GoldSrc's simplicity made games based on it feel both wondrous and mysterious in a way that I can't explain perfectly, and its limitations forced devs to get creative and figure out new ways to make their vision happen with the little tools they had. Ragdolls and physics objects aren't really appealing unless they're sent flying through the air at insane speeds by an explosion. Wanking over graphics for 20 year old games is also a null point.
