I think that video games are actually a great way to develop yourself, even though we might not notice that, actually playing good video games definitely develops our intelectual skills, from strategy to quick thinking etc. If more video games would actually take up education as their goals, I believe that one could develop knowledge of certain subjects as well. Imagine for example a geographical strategy game in which you are forced to give orders by writing actual names of the places your units are supposed to go to without them being written on the map. As long as learning a skill is required to git gud at a game, then the players will learn that skill just so that they can play better. What games actually do that and allow the players to learn actual, helpful skills like scientific facts or for example history?

First question, does Kerbal actually do this? I have never played that game but it seems that it is a game of this type.

Assassins' Creed of course. Personally, I learnt a lot of English (secondary language) just by playing a lot of games and interacting with people online.

Speaking of which, there was this flash game which was basically an RTS inside of a cell, the information conveyed by the game was mostly correct but also not very in detail, even then it's always something. It's called Cellcraft.

>Assasin Creed

Don't even joke about that anon.

Same That's probably why the learning Japanese general tells you to read manga and play Japanese vidya to learn Japanese Any good games for learning the basics like Hiragana and Katakana?

There are 2 RPG maker games for that. Learn Japanese to survive. It's not perfect but it's a first step. They plan on releasing another one for Kanji but its a kikestarter roject and their goal is only to put 200 Kanji in the full versio

KSP is a wonderful educational tool in that it teaches you orbital mechanics and encourages creativity.

On the other hand it's developed by spics with shit work ethic and should only be pirated.

Very funny to see: I have two archive folders; one of 4chan/other sources and one of 8chan. After late 2013, the 4chan folder suddenly stops, and at around the same time, my 8chan folder starts with its respective caps.

Friendly sage for off-topic.

The reason I was so good at math at a young age was because of this game. It was installed on all the computer room PCs of my elementary school. This was in 90s and to help kids get acquainted with using a computer. If video games have a potential to teach subjects well, I'm living proof of that.

EVE online and other mmo's too to a lesser degree give you bussiness skills and economic insight by being part of the economy and playing the system without restrictions like no money / too young to play the real live economy.

I had most of the market manipulation figured out before reading about it just by doing it myself in the game and recognizing that it made sense to do it in the real world too.
