The Alisha/Rose situation is just a bullshit argument. They are both decent enough characters and it's not like it's the first game ever to replace a main party member. Get over it.

The main problem in the game is just the spammy combat, especially once you've mastered the skill system and got yourself 80% reduced cast time and near invulnerability to spam ancient nova or one of the other equivalent spells. Then again it's rare for a JRPG to maintain any semblance of challenge past the half way point anyway and at least the item-skill system was innovative and flexible enough to create some very powerful specialized builds

Berseria lacked the specialization and gave you the spammy god-mode combat from the beginning.

Thing was, a fujoshi or a girl who likes BL shit too much was in charge of story and was the lead writer. Alisha was meant to be the main girl, but somehow there was change in management or something, that crazy broad was in charge of story and start tearing it apart.

Now, Sorey and Mikleo officially buttfucks each other; Alisha was given excuse plot to GTFO to make space for that "pairing". To fill in the void of token girl party member since it became a fucking BL project already, that little psychopath was born.

Now the backlash was something fierce back in Nipland iirc. It basically became a "Magical Realm" project, so what they have learned from this shitstorm was that keep the fetish/magical realm bullshit out of vidya.

The game was fucked the moment the developers said they were taking inspiration from Skyrim.

She'd make sense if others only accepted her because there was no alternative, but they hated her anyway and it was clear if she pushes it too hard, she'll get her shit pushed in. It stupid for them to do more than tolerate her, let alone like her from the get-go. She's an awful character Baba let in only because her seiyuu gave him a boner and because of that the entire game had to be re-recorded and changed a few months before going gold (not giving programmers time to improve the gameplay because they had to redo scenes where Alisha was present, but with Rose).

Completely wrong, dubsman. No fujoshi girl, no such thing as official buttfucking and there's at most implications. There is only Hideo Baba, a guy. He hated Alisha's designer and liked Rose's voice actor, so he ordered the game redone after everything was pretty much finished. He was so fucking petty, he even had content that was done scrapped just because it contained Alisha as long as the team couldn't change it to contain only Rose in time.

I don't see it as more than just a thing said for marketing by some random guy, the game has nothing to do with Skyrim in any way and doesn't seem affected. It's not even a real open world. The only common thing I can think of is that in both you "climb" a mountain and both have dragons. Both are sort of medieval fantasy, but that doesn't count.

I'm mad Baba damaged the series. If his team didn't have to change everything just to remove Alisha for no fucking reason but making his penis harder, the fighting system could've easily been improved. They could've at least made the item system less retarded, touched the combat up a bit, added more fun interactions. The only conversations I remember from Zestiria is Etna and/or Rose making fun of Mikleo or "Rose is so cool wow". They'd have several months to do better because they were already done with the basics, and I'm sure the end result would be far better. Instead it crippled the series, with Berseria not being bad but it was clear as fuck Bamco didn't want to risk money after Tales team got into so many problems. I hope the next game will have actual effort in it. Definitely different graphics, it looks like fucking shit, especially the surroundings. Ni No Kuni-tier graphics, or at least Xenoverse 2-tier, not garbage.

The thing I find the best in this game is Sorey, maybe because of the autistic way he flails his hands around in half the scenes. I just like him. I feel what he could've been, and that makes him better in my mind. Mikleo wasn't bad either, and I have figures of them both. The rest wasn't too interesting, Edna looks nice but gave up on her brother because Rose told her to, the bland guy from the party who dies as the main focus of his death is Rose whom he's talking to and nobody gives a fuck he died afterwards, only that Rose might be sad about it. There's also the naked guy who kills malaks because he wants to stop Eizen, annoying fire bitch with the most annoying and long way to say "I won't tell you shit" imaginable, and Alisha who was jewed. That is unfortunate. Interactions without Rose were decent, too, unless the albino fire bitch was too heavily involved.

That is true and I almost put a small caveat in there about them, but 2-4 good songs out of an entire soundtrack does not qualify the game as having "good music." Zestiria is shit in all categories and music is no exception.
