Seeing how many games try to ape Diablo- how many of these are actually good or do something different, rather than being an inferior version of a much greater product?
I guess other styles of action RPG are fine to talk about here, but the main focus here is the ones that play like Diablo no, Zelda is not an RPG

That's fine if I wanted to talk about Diablo itself, but talking about other games even if they're the same genre would be a bit offtopic. It'd be like talking mainly about Warcraft in an Age of Empires thread.
0f77ae No.14751206
>>14751134
Not really the same thing because Warcraft 3 isn't a clone of Age of Empires. But, to add to the thread, I enjoy dicking around in PoE. It's not as good as Diablo, but it's not bad if you just play on your own. Instead of a skill tree, skills are collectible items, which I kind of like.
7c59b6 No.14751209
You really need to stop referring to Diablo as an "action" RPG. If it cared even remotely about action it wouldn't have a control system that's fucking shit.

Considering I just beat the second game in the OP, I guess I'll give it a summary:
>you find a magic book that allows you to relive the past when you die
>you have to use it to figure out what choices you make will result in victory
>multiple endings, most of which you die in
>the combat is more than the typical "click on it until it dies"
>your abilities: dash, hookshot, and sword powers all have combat uses with the proper skills
<no inventory, but a decent enough skill tree is in place
<certain assets will sometimes fail to load, resulting in black polygons or invisible ground
<your movement speed will sometimes slow to a crawl after combat is over, lasting until the next level is loaded
<too many damn pop culture references, forced humor
<funded by canuckistan goverment

I've heard good things about that game. My only concern is it being one of those F2P games that makes money off microtransaction.

Diablo 1 is still decent enough. Obviously it'll look like a game from 1996, but the genre hasn't really changed too much since then. It shouldn't be hard to get into as it's a relatively simple dungeon crawler.
Getting it running on modern systems should be as easy as grabbing the iso and installing it if you've got the product key. If it crashes for you, just grab the Diablo 1 HD/Belzebub mod or emulate the PS1 version if that doesn't work out.

>my side of america has so many furries the outline on the icon's fucking covered it black
fucking hell
>California's also has a noticeably high ass density compared to their neighbor state
Expected, and now that I think of it most major cites in America are positioned on the east side of America, and most of the low density states are low density farmland or small town states positioned on the grassland. Most cities in america are in dense forest areas likely due to the fact that the surrounding trees provided most of the lumber for buildings and thus people settled there.
On top of that most immigrants from the initial settler population settled in the east, while adventurers ventured out west to find new land, so population density would account for the high degeneracy rate in the east, there's simply a lot of people there, so there's more results.
This however DOES NOT account for California, since they're in the west and their neighboring states would have been ports but don't share the same density of furries. This means that something's gone seriously wrong in California because the culture there has fostered a shitload of furries, they may be one of the bigger states with a bunch of cities, but Texas is pretty much the same thing with the same kind of job opportunities and similar types of cities, and they don't nearly have as high a concentration as California, which has a huge concentration all over the state as opposed to the capital city. The highest concentration elsewhere tend to be the edges of countries where trade is made, specifically the ports where profit is huge, which itself needs study.
but California's culture seems inherently fucked, a fucking horror story, if it harbors that type of mentality to that extent. What exactly is the issue with California? We all know there's a bunch of mentally crazy types there that created the current climate of SJWism and mass retardation.
What fucking elder god abomination roosted there?

Like honestly if it wasn't for the horrific itemization and Health (or ES because it's just health but blue) being the only defensive stat that mattered it'd be a good game. But as it is, the game's decent to dick around in for a few hours, get bored browsing PoEtrade (because you will need to use PoEtrade if you want to endgame at all) and then swear when it turns out the item you want is 5 EX or some outrageous amount because a streamer used it 2 weeks ago

I quite like it. Good amount of content and build variety. Certainly worth checking out if you like the genre, and the devs put out actual expansions. Common complaints I hear are that it looks like shit and not enough variety in skills, which I both agree with to some extent. Since "grim" is in the name, it's no surprise that it's a dark and gloomy game pretty much the whole way through. It doesn't bother me much but I think it's a valid point. You generally want to invest in just a damage type or two if you're wanting to go through all the difficulties, which some people say is boring. This again doesn't bother me much but I see the issue.
