Every conversation about an old franchise that went to shit ends up like this. It's always that one newfag who started playing video games somewhere in this decade and goes MUH STORY when having one is in itself the problem.
The only genres that didn't die because of having stories are RPGs and roguelikes (although RPGs had a death of their own for a different but tangentially related reason) because they were the only genres that thought "hey, what if we make the story the gameplay?" whereas the average game of any other genre thinks "hey what if we replace gameplay with story?".

When the game first came out you had the option to either buy "The Full Experience" for 60$ and get all episodes of the current season or buy every episode piece by piece when they came out. You no longer have the option to buy episodes individually which is a boon to me since I wanted to buy just 2 rather than the whole 60€ pack. Can't justify that with the performance I get on my PC. Anywho, now you can just buy the GOTY bundle for 60€ which also comes with all DLC and the extra Patient Zero campaign which I heard wasn't the best.
I played the older pirated version with offline only, but the game is seriously better online. I got the Sapienza mission for free and with online features it really is my favorite Hitman to date.
