Gravity Rush doesn't work well with a PSTV unfortunately. I bought a DS4 to go with it, but was disappointed that I couldn't use the touchpad or the gyro so you can't do any of the races.

Wouldn't recommend it if you plan on playing online. PSTVs are cheap, you can have a hacked one and a 'legit' one if you plan on modding.
Doing so has great benefits for you , especially on PSTV:

When I play on console I lay on my back in much the same way, except I get to lay the controller down on my legs so it is way more comfortable.
