The following comes from Nintendo president, Shuntaro Furukawa:
>Switch is on sale in 50 countries now
>the goal is to start selling it in the Middle East And South East Asia
>Furukawa was chosen as new president because he knows how to get the most out of development teams
>Furukawa spent the last 2 years mapping out Nintendo's future
>Furukawa wants to change Nintendo internally
>this includes a new committee consisting of five directors who will decide on product ideas together
>Furukawa will be included on the committee, and it seems he thinks there were too many people involved in the decision-making process before
additionally
>Shuntaro Furukawa, has some lofty goals for the mobile side of Nintendo's business. In an interview with Nikkei, Furukawa said he wants to turn their mobile offerings into a 100 billion yen ($910 million) business.

Well, he's not wrong. However, that doesn't solve the fact that a lot of Nintendo's heads have ruined company and brought it to the current state it is in (Miyamoto, Sakurai, Sakamoto). So, here's hope they're not on the committee.

I’m split on him. On one hand, he is the first President of Nintendo to have grown up playing the games, so there is likely a sort of reverance he should have for the brands. On the other hand, being a younger guy, he may try to move Nintendo too drastically and fuck up the one thing Nintendo does right (make games) or make worse the things they already suck dick at (marketing, online, prices) or chase the mobile dosh.
Could go either way. Just give me Wonderful 102 and I won’t complain

I'm sick of that hypocritical logic for years, it basically Miyamoto's way of saying unless it makes fuckloads of cash initially regardless of innovation (Eg: NSMB games) then that series struggles to get regular sequels anytime soon regardless of how many years/decades later while ignoring factors like if the most recent game had terrible sales do to it being a low quality game (Star Fox Zero).

I don't particularly remember much of anything being cut, although I can't really confirm it for Tiger Mask since I can't say to have rewatched it and my memory isn't perfect so I can't claim to actually remember any blatant instances of something being cut. There were some weird changes like Captain Tsubasa being Captain Magid. Most of the anime played was on this channel called Space Toon and they had this guy and his family do arabic intros and those were pretty sick at times.
As for censorship, I can only speak for Egypt but you usually have your Facebook saints post comedy gold like "The word Pikachu is code for Hail Lord Satan and Pokemon Go is symbolically turning you into mindless pagan zombies" and sometimes the official religious authority agrees, but it's Egypt so not many actually give a shit. I figure not many have the same level of reverence for Nintendo properties as the West or Japan but most of the parents I know leave the parenting up to their TVs and tablets/phones so I figure richer parents will leave it up to a Switch. Otherwise anything that anyone wants to play anyways is the latest iteration of fucking FIFAss so I don't know how well it'll do outside of children.

Consoles are less customizable PCs these days (and with in-generation new models even that slowly goes away).
Back in the day, you shoved a disk/cartridge in the console and started playing. Now you shove in a disk, install for two hours, update for five more, then start playing and hope that the game actually runs on the console V1 despite being aimed at console V2 that came out three weeks ago.
They have no more justification for their existence, and neither do the people that still use them.

Melee was a fluke and everyone involved admitted it. They took a fucking party game that was designed to be intuitive for anyone and everyone and made it far complex than it ever should have been. Melee has it's own dedicated fanbase of autists, but that's about it. And frankly, you can't "fix" Smash bros in the eyes of Melee fans, since they've spent thousands of hours perfecting the same combos and glitches so, if a game doesn't include at least one of them, or they are off by one frame, then the game is tainted.

<However, he has one particularly deep regret: the game's accessibility level. "I had created Smash Bros. to be my response to how hardcore-exclusive the fighting game genre had become over the years," Sakurai said. "But why did I target it so squarely toward people well-versed in videogames, then? That's why I tried to aim for more of a happy medium with Brawl's play balance. There are three Smash Bros. games out now, but even if I ever had a chance at another one, I doubt we'll ever see one that's as geared toward hardcore gamers as Melee was. How many people want a new F-Zero when GX never even sold over a million units?
How many people want a new Star Fox when the last one was poorly received due to many issues with it and thus lead to low sales? Even it's spinoff (Guard) was given more higher reviews.
How many times here have you seen someone here wanting random Nintendo game from decades ago to get a sequel or represented in Smash with a fighter?
The only problem here is you not understanding that a lot people out there (including here) want good sequels on current hardware regardless of the time span or low sales of the previous game. Look at examples like Kid Icarus or Punch Out getting unexpected revival sequels.

>Then I heard of MercurySteam and they were looking to take on the challenge of remaking a Metroid game. It wasn't Metroid II, but again I'd heard about this desire from the MercurySteam team.
And, later in the terview:
>Jose Luis Márquez: Like Sakamoto-san said, we approached Nintendo to make a remake of a classic game. We are also a fan of the series, so we were happy to know that they wanted to collaborate with us.
<Was this project always specifically going to be a remake of an older title? Were there ever ideas for a new game?
>First of all, you know, we have heard from them that they were interested in doing a remake of a classic Nintendo title.
MercurySteam never had any plans to remake Metroid 2.
And, after reading that, it make me wonder what happened during development.
Also, a little bonus:
>And personally, for myself, I didn't work on Metroid II. Of course it's a great game on its own, but it's a bit different than the Metroid titles that I've been involved with and I just saw that there's a potential within that title for me to take a look at it as well.
>As you know, within Metroid II there's the really vital portion of the story that's very important to the entire Metroid storyline and that's Samus's first encounter with the baby Metroid.

That's because the spinoff was released simultaneously with Zero (and reuses some assets) and was basically seen as a incentive to pre-order Zero, because it was a download only release unless you brought the SF Zero "first print" edition which got you a physical copy of Guard (and a 2 disc SF themed steelbook case). Also having physical takes up less of the Wii U's limited hard drive space.
For comparison it seems to escaped controversy by being a good game, a good spinoff and being released at the same time as a "main game." Unlike Metroid Prime Federation Force which is hated by everyone for being a spin off released when the main series didn't look like it was getting any new games any time soon. Which is sad to realize that it probably would have been better received if only it had been revealed after Samus Returns/Prime 4 was announced last E3. No one hated Prime Pinball spinoff when the Metroid series was getting multiple games released in the mid 2000's.

>MercurySteam never had any plans to remake Metroid 2.
Their first pitch to Nintendo was a Fusion remake strangely enough. Strange as in wanting to remake a GBA game that doesn't really need a remake (apart from making it less linear) vs the GB Metroid that could use more of the post Super Metroid gameplay touches to improve it.

>With all of Nintendo’s internal studios busy with other projects, Sakamoto needed to find a development team that could tackle his dream project. Fortunately, one studio had been pounding on Nintendo’s door with a Metroid pitch. After finishing work on a few Castlevania projects for Konami, the Madrid-based developer MercurySteam pitched Nintendo on the idea of remaking Metroid Fusion – the 2002 GBA title where Samus got infected with a parasitic organism. Sakamoto was impressed with the studio pitch and their love for Metroid. He told them no, they couldn’t remake Metroid Fusion…but he did need their help on another remake.

Considering they still tend more to making actual games I don't believe that. It's really worrying actually that the kiddie game platform ends up being one of the few with serious games instead of cinematic bullshit.

This. Looking up the exact exchange amount of 100 billion yen was pure 'tism. "Billion dollar industry" isn't something that needs to be translated otherwise.

imageboarder is not the right word but I would hate to make it "anon's" or something instead, fug.
