There are some minor graphical issues, that I didn't even notice until they were pointed out to me, and DMC1 may or may not mess up the audio sync on a cutscene so it's delayed by half a second.
but aside from that the Collection is perfectly fine, gameplay wise it's perfect. DMC1 is my personal favorite game and the old DMC3 PC port was ASS, so the collection on PC was totally worth it for me.

I can agree with that. I mean, I may enjoy the ABILITY to redo stages, but forced hidden stats that only improve via levelling up and needing to be at high levels to pass some of the challenges is a pain in the ass.
Like, a level 1 and a level 255 with max weapons can clean mooks the same, but because the level 1 isn't rocking the 255 attack damage and the uber class weapon with stats ,a general takes a while to take out as opponent to the few hits the 255 requires, meaning a time limit or the risk of taking a hit fro ma mook bystander is always up your ass and highly likely.

The best part is the broken lock on mechanic. When you lock on to an officer some of the moves don't work and the combos fall short and leave you out of range for follow ups. Same with the gap closers not working sometimes when you're locked on. It's like the game judges the distance differently when you lock on.

Originally you could only Parry that final attack with Nero's buster, but due to the fact that the new playable character don't have the buster. the can just parry that move with reguale attacks.
I parried the final bosses final attack with a taunt, that just so happens to have a hit box that can do damage. The taunt is randomised between that one and different taunt. The taunt only has a hit box for a split second when the sword is unsheathed. so you need pretty good timing and a little luck.

It's funny, 'cause I replayed all four of them recently and I think I enjoyed DMC2 a little bit more than 1 in some ways. For all of its numerous flaws (low difficulty, wonky/simplistic combat, mostly embarrasing boss battles, etc), DMC2 does have some positive traits that actually lay the foundations of 3 and deserves more credit for influencing the later entries. It just isn't fully realized and is kinda superfluous, with melee combat being practically useless and guns being the way to go. For example, the Trickster style in 3 is pretty much in 2, there's just no much reason to use it in 2. Dante's Rebellon sword made its debut in this, and although the stylistic shooting and wall-running were unpolished, they became a mainstay in DMC3 and 4. Itsuno was called in at pretty much the last moment to try salvaging DMC2, which explains why there's a lot of underutilized mechanics, and probably why Dante became more talkative (and snarkier) during the second half. Overall it remains in alright territory and I think it's worth trying if you get the HD Collection. The soundtrack is pretty great and the intro ("The demon slayer, Dante!") gives me chills.

DMC2 is a flawed game, but a very necessary one when it comes to the genre. DMC1 pretty much invented the modern action game, but due to Capcom being retards they got a completely new team to make DMC2, because "How hard could it be to make a sequel to DMC1?"
While DMC2 had some good ideas that became main stays for the series. (multiple playable characters, instant weapon switching, mission select.)
It also showed everyone in the industry that making a good action game takes more then just cool looking character design and fancy animations.
Simply put they needed to know what they could do wrong, before they found out how to do everything right.

All the particles/leaves kills the quality at any lower bitrate. Even still you can see artifacts in the hair. This webm was done by another anon from a GG thread after a drawfag posted the full video and I tried re-doing the webm to see if I could improve the quality or reduce the filesize, but all my attempts came off worse than that webm.
