They made a sequel. It's an epic free-to-play MMORPG called Dragon's Dogma Online :^)
55f548 No.14705879
>>14705855
That game is unlikely to get a sequel because of how Crapcom is does business. Unless the mystery game Hideaki Itsuno is working on happens to be a Dragon's Dogma sequel which seems unlikely given how the leaks point it out to be a new Devil May Cry.
There's hope though, Monster Hunter World proved that Crapcom Japan can handle big scope games without shooting themselves on the foot so maybe, one day.
Probably not

I think it's better if DD never gets a sequel, and I really love the game. It came out in 2012, and while there were shit practices back then, the industry wasn't nearly as bad as it is now. A new DD would likely have a bunch of extra cancer in it that would just fuck the whole experience. Better to die with the legacy of one good game+expansion and a shit MMO, than to be raped to death.

That sucks and it happens more often that not but the games eventually come to PC, you don't need a console unless you absolutely need to play exclusives. Even so, a couple of months is way better than waiting 3 years for a port
>That also means game focused for console, not PC
Not arguing but that has been the rule since the early 2000s even now with the surge of PC ports. Plus one of the only things Capcom has done right since the 7th is to release decent PC ports.
>Game casualized as fuck to try to appeal to a broader audience
Some things are certainty easier in MHW and the early hand holding can be a pain but most of what's "casualized" is Capcom trimming down the fat of the series, do you seriously want to go back to stiff controls, shit camera, expending 1-3 hours of picking flowers until you can actually fight something, heavy amounts of grinding (which the game has in spades in the late game), etc.

You mean the stiff controls that work with the monsters movesets making the game satisfying, like two cogs working in unison? Shit camera that hasn't really been an issue since the target cam was added? If you spend 1-3 hours picking up materials instead of rushing through to unlock the farm then I'm sorry anon but you just suck shit. Oh and about grinding, at least the previous games didn't have time limited events that are just as grindy as previous games event quests that didn't run on a fucking timer forcing you to play a quest over the course of a week to get the stuff you need or you miss your chance.

Its obvious DDO is just there to squat on the spot where a proper DD sequel should be. Its springtime for hitler but for a game the dirty old Capcom execs don't want, because its the brainchild of a creator who they think has too much freedom to be allowed to succeed without their approval. DD was a sleeper hit released in the middle of a Capcom slump that began around the time when they started to outsource actually making the games to western studios, resulting in Donte and that abominable Lost Planet prequel and slowly got worse culminating in RE7, MVC3, SFV and the surrounding fiascos. MHW seems to have reversed their fate, however, since its turned out to be a big hit in terms of sales. Its a wait to see if that translates into a DD sequel or, god forbid, a MML sequel.

Not really. You could complete the game easily with it but you have to dedicate to DPS. You gotta learn enemy patterns for when they're vulnerable so you can use the strong charge attacks that you release at just the right time for huge damage. Using it on dragon's hearts is incredible. You just need to really buffer that charge and know how to position yourself just right for it. Being pretty tanky helps. Also you'll need a good sword for it so don't ignore getting better weapons and upgrading them.
Not all vocations are available at the start, though. My favourite is Assassin. You can use tons of weapons, shields and bows and it has one of the best melee counters in the game, http://dragonsdogma.wikia.com/wiki/Masterful_Kill and http://dragonsdogma.wikia.com/wiki/Double_Vault
I get to shoot critical areas with the bow or just keep up DPS from ranged, then move in for quick dagger strikes and reverse most physical attacks coming towards me. Goes well with support pawns because you can freely aggro every enemy to proc your masterful kill while your pawns lay down spells or arrows. You're invincible during your masterful kill attack so you can look around and decide what to do next.

Besides, getting yourself safe and in a good enough position to be able to hold the spell that long is where the only skill comes into it. There's a final fantasy as shit hub city where all the people are, you can take you and three other people or pawns out into the world to go do shit, the world is a bit more segmented and locked off, everything is more quest based and the quests themselves are also chopped up into smaller pieces
There are more vocations, and some of them are really cool, but some of the originals were cut up to make them more specialized for the multiplayer environment, so instead of strider or assassin, you have a ranger class that can only use bows and whatever arrow types there are, and the seeker that only uses daggers and has a grappling hook thing
The enemies are also tanky as shit a lot of the time for the same reason, but I never encountered any serious roadblocks playing solo, even playing a non-DPS vocation, stuff like bosses just take a long ass time

You can totally switch your starting vocation to something else, say fighter to sorcerer and be completely fine. Try to avoid too much switching around though unless its past 100 as that is the softcap for stat gain I believe.
Don't worry too much about min/maxing and optimum builds and all of that. Play around and have fun and if you're using a legit copy, you always have other players pawns to carry you through the game if need be.
9888f6 No.14743543

If you want to go full autismo optimization, you might want to look up a leveling guide. Each time you level up your stats are increased in specific relation to which vocation you are. Be a wizard, get more magicky stats – Be a Fighter, get more physical stats, more or less. If you want the best stat growth to be as effective as possible when you eventually branch out into a more specialized vocation, there are guides that will tell you how many levels of which vocation to take. However, if you simply make smart decisions and don't spend the entire game in a basic vocation, you'll be fine… So, don't hit level 50 as a fighter and then switch over to wizard.
The other catch here is that as long as you are being somewhat smart about your vocation choices and changing, precise stat growth control won't matter nearly as much as your gear. Good gear can matter far more than a couple extra points in attack, and by the time you're fighting the really strong shit, proper exploitation of weak points, gittin' gud, and abusing elemental weaknesses will matter the most. Optimized leveling don't mean shit if you play like an idiot, after all.
73934e No.14743590

Don't worry too much about stats. For the most part, if you're playing a class you enjoy you'll get stats that make that class better. The two main exceptions are Mage, which gets mostly a magic defense stat gain, and Magick Knight. I don't remember why or how MK's stat growth is fucked, but I remember it being widely accepted that if you want to play MK you should spend a majority of levels as either Assassin or Sorceror depending on whether you want to deal physical or magical damage as an MK.

Although there are ways to revive people in the game. In fact, two of the possible male romance options requires you to resuscitate them
Also extremelly important. The romance system of this game is kind of fucked up, and at a certain point in the game chooses as you love interest the last npc with the highest affection you have spoken to. Try to avoid reaching to much affinity with characters. This can be kind of hard as doing certain quest raises it pretty fast. Particularly easy to increase are Selene and Aelinore. Do bad things to them to lower it. You will now you are at max affinity with one character when they blush and bells chime when you speak to them.

Still up and recently they added the 3rd new class and are having a Berserk Cross-Over Event. In all honesty, it's not bad at all and is much better than the dumpster fire that was 1.0. The game has a few things in it that in all honesty are absolute essentials for the proper sequel and is a fun little time sink for anyone looking for an action game or MMO to play.
By that same token, anyone not looking to play an MMO should avoid it entirely or be cautious of it. The only thing in the game that really keeps it fun is the combat, classes and how interesting the content can get on top of how they really cut down on the grind aspect to the point that you need not spend hours upon hours grinding just to get to the fun parts.
>>14728669
In regards to a sequel you never know. Any team making a proper DD2 could yoink the assets from DDO and have an easy time of making something out of it. Environments, skeletons, animations, classes, armour, items, bosses and some NPC designs (including the games own Bloomers witch) are all there ready and waiting to be ported and expanded upon. It's feasible that someone at Capcom might allow a DD2 thanks to MHW's success under the assumption that all of DDO can be used as a jumping off platform for easy development of a title that holds both western appeal and has a rather vocal and passionate fan-base to aide in marketing.

That's basically what I've been looking for for ages now, but nothing seems to get even close to how DD did it. I haven't hit BBI yet, but even the small dungeons and caves outside of it were a blast to go through.

Because DD is firmly in niche territory. It didn't explode like Demon's Souls/Dark Souls did, as an example. It sold well and did well, but not enough to slap them across the face. Or they're just so adamant to not go all in with DD. Shame as the game, while great, is heavily flawed and a sequel to fix many of those flaws would be well received.

Other studios are even worse than capcom and usually devoid of talent or ambition. They aren't looking at genres that aren't being capitalized on or searching for niches to fill, they are looking at trends and flavor of the month streamer bait. It's no joke that E3 is going to be filled with Battle Royale games with MOBA and CCG elements, that use a combination of F2P and lootbox business models.

Whilst a lot of enemies are reskinned or re-used skeletons, this is hardly a problem when executed like in MH where the skeleton and certain animations are re-used but the monster is given enough unique moves or behaviours/gimmicks to set them apart. The game is not like it was in 1.0 where every boss was just a reskinned cyclops with 1 new move.
Lindwurm - New
Behemoth - New
Angules - New
Findam's Dragon - New
White Dragon - New
Elder Dragon - New
Golgorran - New
Giant Turtle Dragon (Cattoblepus I think.) - New
Giant Behemoth with fucking canons mounted on it that drops bombs and summons a tornado. - New
Frost and Fire Machina - New
Diamantes - New ( 2 forms. Both forms can work as separate bosses if human form is expanded on
Zuhl - New (Reskinned Daimon but largely different.)
Armored Zuhl - New (Entirely expanded moveset compared to old Zuhl and still distinct from Daimon.)
Black Knight - New (Has multiple forms in the fight that can all be expanded into 3 separate bosses in their own right.)
Spawn - New (Re-use of Zuhl's skeleton but with new moves and movement animations.)
Mogok - New
War Master - New (Re-skin of Mogok and orcs but very different)
Necromancer Orc - New (Re-skin of War Master but also fights differently.)
Ancestor Orc - New
Findimian Ent - (Reskinned ent which is a reskinned cyclops but the fight has a shit load more AOE to it.)
Manticore - Re-skinned Chimera but fights differently due to using the tail more for melee and not a decoration you cut instantly
Goliath/Damned Golem - (Reskinned golem with some new attacks.)
Medusa - (Reskinned Wight lots new attacks.)
All of the above fight differently enough to be considered their own beasts.
Then basically every enemy from DD: DA is in there (Save the Hydra I think.) With at least 1 elemental alternate variant for each kind. This is a big enough list to populate a fairly large open map and keep encounters interesting and diverse.
As for Environment, there is no debate here. The entirety of 2.0. lots of 3.0 and even some areas in 1.0 are diverse enough that with some expansion can serve as a wholly unique fantasy location for questing within or turned into large dungeons.

no they aren't DDO suffers from terminal fight similarity issues "hit enemy once force first enrage and then it goes invincible for 2 minutes while your pack of 3 retards (god help you if you use pawns) try to pull on it, or if you have an incredibly forced trinity you can not pull and instead shoot it's knee with the correct element" or if it's a spiked enemy "hit spike 90 fucking times so you can actually hurt the enemy because THIS IS A FUN MECHANIC RIGHT"
The enrage mechanic makes all of the fights in the game incredibly similar to the point of it's own downfall. The game is actively horrible because of it.

People always complain about this shit but it's easy as fuck to manage if you understand how it works. If an NPC gets a pink glow around them when you talk to them then they're elligible to be kidnapped by Grig at the end. Best way to knock down their affinity is to simply draw your weapon near them, sheathe it, then do it again like five times until you don't get a pink hue anymore. You don't get in trouble with the law, you don't lower them to a point where they don't like you, and you don't have to worry about them being your LI.

>Lindwurm isn't new
It has a new wing mechanic and different breathe attack that hits at long range due to being a projectile. It fights more aggressive too as a result of the new wings and the inability to grab and lack of magick or flying meanis it is less stationary but constantly open to melee when the wings are gone. Also has another element added to its roar when the wings are still up, making the roar more dangerous especially if fighting in or around water. Admittedly the need for a ranged class does make them more infuriating but by the same token so was the Metal Golem or normal Golem whilst playing a Sorc or lacking a specific pawn vocation.
As for the last bit.
>Still implies that fighting an enraged enemy is a pull fest when it is objectively the sub-par option and more dangerous to boot.
>Still thinks enrage lasts longer than 30 seconds or sucks the pacing of a fight by enforcing the player move to defence or climbing and pulling when it actually rewards more offensive play and encourages Ailment use.
>Still thinks you can't use BREAK or deal decent stamina damage to the enemy weak point even when it is not revealed.
>Still thinks pawns are bad when the addition of upgraded AI through updates, Pawn orders, Special Pawn skills and a gambit system is there and now there is not a single bad pawn vocation at all, even the Hunters who were so retarded they missed enemies constantly are now good.
>Still thinks you even need a green and or blue class and that a "T-TRINITY IS FORCED BY ENRAGE" when you can easily destroy enrage with all reds, all blues or even all green parties with different vocations of each.
>Acts like he trounced my list by crying "M-Muh spiked enemy someone once told me of a-aren't different!" When I didn't list a single spiked enemy variant at all as they are objectively reskins with the only difference being where you're expected to attack and others another mechanic to worry about by way of 1 new attack and a block for climbing.
>Didn't list war ready enemies cause they are also re-skins but the approach to them is much different meaning they deserve to be listed and might be harder to work into a single player game.
You have clearly not played since 1.0 and pretending you know anything would be like trying to criticise current FF14 when one has only played the vanilla version of it.

It's the most realistic, anti-Marxist arc of its kind. She resigns herself to doing what she should've done from the start and using her aristocratic/royal connections to help the Arisen instead of the asinine notion she could ever stand toe-to-toe with men on the battlefield.

If you can't tell from the video the new class is extremely offensively oriented and has a load of core-skills and lots of great damage dealing custom skills. The most insane thing is the class has access to 3 different dodges.
One is just the usual press button to dodge.
The other is to use the skill that teleports you through an enemy and can also function as a double jump of sorts.
The next is the crazy ass teleport backwards that is a core skill (Meaning it's always equipped) that once you press it again, you will teleport right back to the enemy even if they're a flier that is now in the air.
There is nothing really that the class can't do as they have both magick, physical, status inflicting skills and ranged attacks, the class seems to be all about constantly maintaining the offensive with no downtime.

>The enrage mechanic makes all of the fights in the game incredibly similar to the point of it's own downfall
It did in 1.0 where the only response to it no matter the enemy was to grab their safe spot and spam pull. Add to that 90% of the monster roster back then was nothing but Cyclops over and over then yes, repetition and staleness are a huge problem and I agree with you that the game suffered from it. Yet that was all the way back in 1.0 (In 2015) and DDO was announced to be updated constantly in seasons for multiple years. It is not a surprise that it can and has changed to address the flaws and complaints of the player base like FF14: A Realm Reborn had done.
2.0 and beyond enrage is different and a decent summary is as follows:
Due to the addition of the BREAK system in 2.0 and significant balance changes to buff stamina damage dealt from attacking (Even un-revealed core attacks now deal decent damage) and due to attacking being the best choice, proccing CC ailments are now possible mid enrage and the fight comes to be about positioning and responding to the now chimping out boss whilst coordinating with your party instead of finding the magic ass pixel to hide on. When an enemy enters enrage it's not 1-2minutes of boredom, but 30 - 40 seconds of an enemy moving to the offensive and you need to understand your skills and what your allies classes and builds are to get through it safely and effectively whilst staying on your own offensive as doing so is the best strategy to end enrage.
Break essentially is a side-bar that fills as you attack the boss in enrage. (Note that attacking also deals stamina damage so the process of building Break also wipes Enrage, the whole system made to encourage a constant up-keep of offence instead of spamming pull.) Once it builds to max it wipes roughly 40% of the enrage bar, makes the enemy take double stamina damage for a moment AND staggers them back, interrupting any attack or action they were taking. The break bar can be filled very fast and reliably on most foes and sometimes you only need to build Break once to wipe an enrage and some classes can build break to the max with one spell or well-timed skill.
Also the addition of Spiked (And War Ready enemies.) serve to counter the sameness of 1.0 despite being largely unapologetic reskins with just a different goal for the party to focus on to take them down. Both of them much like the break system encourage offence and constant action in different ways.

Assassin shits out so much damage with the gouge skill (sword), the enemy might as well be dead as soon as you climb onto their weakpoint, and there are plenty strengths other than that. Cyclops drop dead when you get at their eye, chimeras are basically squirming on the ground all 10 seconds it takes to slaughter them. Actually, don't play assassin if you want some challenge. Technically they aren't really your pawn but you+.
Briefly, the Pawn of the player develops their AI to directly mirror the player's combat and even common behavior. Most players don't recognize this because we not only have them as qt girls but as helpful mages, or some other compliment to our style, but in actuality they should be in the same style as us.
In lore the Arisen's Pawn becomes more human the closer they grow to the Arisen, the longer time they spend with them, etc. They aren't just your android friend but grow to be a part of you, taking on basically a part of your soul. When the Pawn falls with you they merge into you in such a way that they are no longer themselves but essentially your other self - however, they are not consciously you since you died to end the cycle.
In a metatextual sense the Player's Pawn takes on the role of the Protagonist after the Player ceases to play the game. It's kind of like how the Persona games have some excuse to divorce the player from the protagonist in the end, with P4 and P5 being the most blatant "going back" references (P5 even has the protag directly staring into the camera as it pans out and away, basically showing the distinction between you, the player, and the protagonist you were roleplaying as).
"Arisen" gets to live out their life with the waifu, likely outrunning the Duke's forces to another land (maybe with Mercedes' family help, she is a friend even if she's not your wife) and continue on in your happy ending, but though the Arisen's story continues on, your story ends here with the credits. You don't get to live out the mundanity of a peaceful or mildly exciting life - just like you never got to live out the mundane life of a fisherman. You, the Player, are no longer the Arisen. Your Pawn takes your place in Arisen's skin, having fully adopted your behavior (and, in lore, essentially become a 1-1 reflection of you).
So while you don't get to enjoy a happy ending, "you" still do.
I prefer the normal kind of ending, but considering the recent Persona games and this it seems like it's a new thing to have this weird metatextual divorce of the player and the protagonist at some point for the ending, like YOU have to go back to the real world while the protag lives out the life. Only game I liked that did this kind of meta ending, and the only one I think did it excellently, is Ar Nosurge.
Shame the gameplay is so ass since it's easily one of the most interesting JRPGs ever made with the most autistic level of detail to the world and lore you'd find outside of a Souls game.

Probably a weird thing about self inserts, even though the characters in the more recent Personas and DD is basically a stand in for the player. You also don't exactly break the cycle, since pawn NPCs will recognize you in NG+. The cycle never breaks until the servers are shut down, as long as someone is playing, an Arisen that has beaten the game can show up in another Arisen's NG+ cycle, and pawns have a weird meta view of the game world as they also live beyond it, in the server. Even the dimwitted nature of the pawns that characters observe in game is basically an in game excuse for why pawns do not help you or anyone else in combat unless they are in your party.

In direct response to how the break system in tandem with Enrage changes the pace of the fight from a pull fest to a constant engagement with the combat mechanics whilst also ensuring the party needs to work at least partially in unison you say. "It doesn't do that because I say so." Even worse your solution is that instead of "bloating" the fight by 20 or so seconds by giving the player something to overcome and plan around you suggest just literally bloating the enemy HP bar which serves to do the same thing you claim enrage does of extending the fight but even worse as it does not provide the players with the challenge of having an enemy who is now demonstrably harder and more offensive and difficult to respond to in kind, nor has the pay-off of downing an enemy.
The problem with the Enrage mechanic in 1.0 was that it presented the player with only one response. To actively dis-engage with your class mechanics and style and instead jump on the asshole of the boss and slam "Pull." That is how Enrage broke the pace, not because you're just not dealing 100% damage.
In 2.0 you continue the fight but instead of dealing HP damage you're now whittling the boss down and dealing a "Different type of damage" and then rewarded with the pay-off of the boss being downed and the party then is given a chance to deal large swathes of damage that can sometimes result in an instant victory with enough DPS or well-placed and planned use of status effects. Enrage in this case doesn't break the pace of the fight at all, it enhances it by adding some challenge and allowing classes the chance to use all their abilities.
See now why I called you a 4channer?
In response to a presentation of how the systems have changed and thereby how all of the games systems and class mechanics now work in unison with it and not against it, you block your ears and decry your prior stance without rethinking or addressing details at all.
You simply claim "IT EXTENDS THE FIGHT TOO MUCH!" When good players and parties complete Enrage bosses faster than non-enrage or non-gimmick bosses. That's right, there are some bosses with no gimmick or enrage at all. They are actually the least fun to play against in the entire game as just like in DD:DA you don't need to think once you find your classes OP method of dealing damage.

There are some skills/augments in the latter part of the fighter vocation that are useful for melee builds. As for switching to magic you're free to do so. There are some hynrid vocations like the Mystic Knight, that combines fighter and sorcerer abilities along with its own unique skills. Once you've unlocked a vocation you can go back to the NPC at any time to switch back to it at no cost.

Warrior is crazy but is super niche and can only use 3 skills so it's kind of a pain in the ass, most people go for assassin because it's versatile and very easy to become OP
As for magic, people really like mystic knight, though it's less of a magic/fighting hybrid and more of a bullet hell simulator, real great if you're playing on console and want to fry your hardware

Augments can be used with any class. Most skills are class specific, so only certain skills can be used by multiple classes. Some of the fighter skill are usable by Assassin. I think some of the Strider too. Sadly, Warrior cannot use skills from any other classes, because he is the only class that uses Two-handed weapons, ergo any of the other skills are usable by this class. Mage, Mystic Knight and Sorcerer I think do share some of the basic spells, but any of the other classes can.
This is because skills are tied for the most part to weapons. There exists mods that let you equip any weapon with any class, so you could basically carry an staff and shield and other impossible combinations. Of course, that kinds of break the game.
>i've heard that if you create a fighter, adding very different (like sorcerer) vocation would make your character perform like shit in that vocation.
The real reason is the stats you gain when leveling up are tied with what class are you using at the moment of gaining a new level. So, if you have been using Fighter, your first 10 levels you have gain considerable stats in Strength, Defense and Health, but very poor stats in Magic. That means that if you want to have decent stats, you train classes which raises those stats first. Skills and augment have no effect on character performance. On the contrary, the more augment you have the more you can customize and fine tune your character.
From level 1-10 you have the biggest stat gain.
from 11-99 you still gain a big amount of stats, but a little less.
From 100 onwards you hit the soft cap, and your stat gain is smaller.
So, which classes you play your first one hundred levels define what stats you will gain. If you like Melee, Assassin gives attack, Warrior Health and Fighter Defense. If you like Magic, Sorcerer is the best option, as he has the highest Magic attack gain. Mage gives you more Magic defense. Ranger is the best for Stamina, and Mystic Knight and Magic Archer are a little of jack of all trades, but their gains are quite low, so is recommended play other classes before changing to one of those. Not going the optimal way is not game-breaking, equipment is just, if not more important than character stats, but because of the way damage is calculated in the game, it can be very noticeable when you have a bad stat growth.

Is not only after you have maxed out a class, you play with a class until you have gain the amount of stats you desired. Character level is separated from Vocation level. I'll say to try out every class and find what you like. Vocation level goes quite faster than character level, so you can unlock their skills and try out things without screwing your character.
As for the most fun class, it really depends in your style of play. My favorite is Mystic Knight. It is quite versatile and can be built either to use magic attacks or buff its physical attacks with magic, as well as focusing on perfect guarding. Assassin is also pretty nice because it is very powerful and can equip Daggers, Swords, Shields and Bows, making it the most varied class to play as. I like fighter for the most part, but I dislike the Dragon's Maw spam at high level, I find it boring. Warrior is kind of niche. Capcom fuck Warrior over by just letting them equip 3 skills. It is probably the weakest and harder class to play, but some of its skills are some of the most fun and satisfying to use (Arc of Deliverance) and are quite powerful. I like it but it takes some practice. Sorcerer's spells are amazing, and finding enemies weak points is pretty fun, but the class isn't really for me. It is more about finding the right position and time to cast spells or just spam Holy bolts. Having Sorcerer pawns with the Utilitarian attitude and the same high level spells as you can help, as they will synchronize their spells with you and help you cast much more faster. The cast time are very, very slow for high level spells. Can't say much about Magic Archer, but I heard it is pretty cool with homing arrows and setting yourself on fire. If you like climbing enemies then Strider and Assassin are good for you. Finally, if you want to play support or focus in status effects pick Mage.

i'll give those a shot. i like how the game lets you experiment with the different classes with the same character. i just dont want to pigeonhole myself into only being able to play melee.
shame about warrior. i usually enjoy running around with a giant hammer being the tank while my band of loli pawns protect and buff me with magic and protect me with arrows.
but i'd like to switch it up and be able to do magic. however now that i play fighter so much, i cant imagine myself standing back and casting spells instead of climbing up a monster and beating it to death with a flaming sword while my pawns throw oil at it.

If you like magic and tanking then Mystic Knight is pretty good with that. If you like to discover the classes skills by yourself don't read the spoiler.
Its signature weapon is the Great Shield, which can be enchanted with spell so when you perform a perfect guard a spell will be casted automatically, hurting the enemies and, depending on the element of the spell, producing a secondary effect (fire burns, light slowdown the enemies. It can also equip swords and staffs. With staffs you can cast a number of Mage spells. With sword you have different attacks, including some of the Fighter skills, and some unique ones like a flying version of the Fighter dash attack (the one that looks like Stinger from DMC), You also will have access to party-wide elemental enchantments, unique buffs spells that let you defend better or that add dark damage and read to your physical attacks on top of any element you enchant your weapon with, some powerfull AoE spells of Fire and Light element that can be casted regardless of if you use Sword or Staff (I think you use you shield to cast them) and finally, probably the Mage Knight's signature attacks, the Magick Cannon and Magick mine. The first let you summon a magic sphere that when hit by anyone, enemies, allies or yourself, shoots magic bolts in great quantities and of the element of your weapon. You can even summon three of them and shoot one cannon to another one to cause a chain effect. The second, the Magick mines, are, as the name suggest, a mine that activates when enemies enter its area and hit multiple times. You can summon three of them at the same time. If you combine both skill, you will have enemies stepping on the mines, which activate and hit both the enemies and the Magick Cannon in rapid succession, making the Cannon shoot a huge amount of bolts, melting both the enemies and your console.
Still, both Warrior and Fighter can tank just right, but neither of them have spells. You can always compensate by crafting grimoires and scrolls to cast spells from them. They can be pretty strong and save you if you are in a pinch.

i am much more familiar with making a "build" in dark souls, for example "leveling dex to X and leveling strength until you can weild the weapon you want, then add to health and stamina until X, etc" dragons dogma seems to work more like… "level up as sorcerer, 20 times, level up as fighter 20 times, level up as warrior 20 times, etc.
is it recomended for me to jump straight into sorcerer to grow that magical ability before becoming a mystic knight?
is it possible/normal to have a character that can pretty much play any role depending on what i feel like playing? like by the time im level 300 or whatever, how easy/viable is it to have a well rounded character that i can play any vocation i want? or max all of the vocations?
is this something i can easily achieve? or is this more of something that would require intricate and tedious planning.

Yes, is as you say, this is more about leveling X amount of levels with a class. Mystic Knight use both magic and strength to calculate the damage of most of his skills. Magic is affect them more than strength thought, so going sorcerer is a good idea. I'm not very good with "builds" in this game, so I cannot be of much help. I'm more of going with gut instinct and what seems fun at the moment.
It may be possible to make a balances character. If you don't mind doing optimal damage and some farming to gain decent equipment. Check this table which details how stats grow for level up depending on what class you use. As you have use Fighter for 20 level you should probably have good physical defense and physical attack, but shit magic and mediocre Stamina. Also I was mistaken, Sorcerer also raise Magic defense more than Mage. So, depending on how you go at it, you want to level as Sorcerer for a time to develop good Magic stats and then either go as Fighter if you want to be tanky in both physical and magical attacks, Warrior if you want a balance between defense and attack with high HP, or Assassin, if you focus only on attack. Of course you can always mix leveling up Fighter and Assassin. You can throw in some levels of ranger if you feel your stamina is to low. It would help you to cast more spells and use more skills, so is good for every other class. I'll say don't get too obsessed with reaching a perfect build if at any point you feel bored with any of the classes. If you have a build in mind level a class a certain number of levels to gain ok stats and change it up, particularly if it is your first playthrough. I'll say it is more important to enjoy and discover the game and then in further replays to create builds.
Fighter and Warrior are technically the less mobile classes, as they have no mobility based augment. Magic classes can levitate, which helps to reach hard places and dodge some attacks. Strider, Assassin, Magick Archer and Ranger can double jump. They also can dodge attacks.

I don't think you understand at all.
>1.0 Enrage starts and you need to deplete a gauge. The problem isn't the gauge but method which was to pull on the monster and do nothing else.
>2.0 Enrage has the player continue fighting as normal, but with more factors to worry about and the fact you aren't doing as much damage is negligible considering you're still using the same class mechanics.
The fight still continues on, you're still engaged with the combat mechanics and using your class properly and co-operating without the fight halting as you spam pull for 2 minutes.
It kills none of the combats flow, you just aren't dealing as much damage which doesn't matter at all considering it actually ups the pace by constantly ensuring the monster will begin using their stronger attacks.

It sure is wonderful how you continue to respond with low effort posts and constantly not think about the mechanics of the game at all. Great job not appearing like you belong back on halfchan with all the mongoloid faggots.
When one says that a fights pace or flow is broken it does not mean in regards to your damage dealt but the shift in "gear" of the fight.
Enrage 1.0 shifted gear to jumping on an enemy and spamming an uninteresting, unfun, tedious and skilless move to whittle a bar away. You get forced from engaging the boss with your class mechanics to what is essentially the slowest pace bar actually stopping the fight entirely.
In 2.0 you don't get forced to stop attacking, you don't get forced to bounce off and suffer recovery animations, you don't get pushed to the other end of the map whilst the boss performs moves and you need to wait for his nose to glow red to ground pound it, you don't have to walk slowly in an unskippable cutscene and you don't have to actively disengage with the game. When talking about the "Pace" of a fight what matters is how many factors are you being expected to keep in mind and how you are expected to mechanically deal with them. By this logic, enrage in 2.0 serves to move the pace of the fight further along as the enemy is harsher and the player now able to use other options to respond in kind.
Whilst the progress (HP damage dealt.) is slowed down the actual progression of the fight is not halted. Essentially, the player's expression is not limited but expanded upon and tested. The definition of moving the fight along, not pushing back or halting.
A phase in which the boss takes low damage is not a pace breaker alone, it's when the only response to it is to wait it out or just as offensively, spam pull on the boss monsters asshole whilst in minimal danger.
