Simpsons Arcade by Konami is still a good game.
Also, you might check Bart vs space Mutant. The Genesis/Mega Drive port.
It had a great first level that really was unique for it's time, with how many variables it had and how it got the cartoon atmosphere rights. The rest of the levels were just generic platformers with Simpsons brand and image posted on them.
To this day i still replay the first level, and get bored by the rest. Sometimes i finish the game, sometimes i stop at the circus, that is at least another fun level.

the main creator of the game died of cancer.
The game was good in concept, but the execution was horrible. Only the Bartman Stage was really a game. The others were mini-games, with some putting cheap one-hit deaths everywhere just to create the illusion of the game being longer. The Bartzilla stage was fun, but it was so badly programmed that even the life bar is missing, and you can't tell when you are going to die. And it had the damn enemies being random, while your moves are calculated. You can only release one hit of any attack at a time, while enemies come randomly.
It's sequel (forgot the name) was not better. Only the mini-games improved, but it still had the other problems from the first, while having the only fun stage (the water one) be a min-game one.
