Dragon Quest 8 Hero/Eight would make a good third party guest

Hero/Eight is a character that plays with Swords, Spears, Boomerang and Fisticuffs to attack its opponents. His competitive advantage is Down B special "Psyche up" to empower his abilities damage, launch and depending on the stacks, hyper armor or shield breaking properties. Psyche Up leaves you open/vulnerable until animation ends, so do it when it is safe.

In addition to Psyche up mechanic, his second competitive advantage is his use of different weapons. Depending on the weapon that is currently equipped, the jab, tilts and other things will be changed.

The spear is primarily for neutral game. more range but less damage, except for tip, which has high launch too.

The sword is for getting closer and standard play. More damage less range. Standard Launch all around.

The boomerang is for keepaway. projectile, little lag. but no launch and projectile damage. Good to cook enemies up for desired combo percentages.

The entire party appears like when encountering an enemy, but then jump off screen. Hero unleashes weapon and shield.

Boomerang: throws a boomerang, edged boomerang, and razowing boomerang like a ranged projectiles. think of megaman's standard jab, except Razorwing boomerang has launch and more damage at the end. The boomerangs pierce through enemies, but just like in-game, the second enemy gets hit by less damage and launch, and so forth

Boomerang: Boomerang goes 180 from left to right above Hero/Eight. Less damage than spear, equal coverage, but little recovery time, very safe.

>Down Tilt

Spear: Poke like Marth or Roy's tilt, except with a spear. Tip is sweet spot.

Sword: Same poke, but with sword. Metal slash properties (breaks shield more or big shield stun).

Boomerang: Sweep with the boomerang. Trips enemies for a dash attack or grab true combo.

>Dash Attack

Mercurial Thrust. Quick Dash attack that crosses to the other side of the opponent (like meta knight's or shiek's dash attack). Leaps in with little start up frame. Equips the spear.

>Smash

Gigaslash: Horizontal motion with the sword, just like the attack. Travels forward quite bit after execution. Equips Sword.

>Up Smash

Kazap. Think of Mewtwo's upsmash, but with electricity. Clouds would be higher up with lightning reigning down above Hero/Eight. Clouds also have hitbox, and just like Pikachu's thunder cloud in smash 4, spikes enemies down to the lightning. The casting jingle plays when executed.

Heal: Casting animation occurs (as long as a falcon punch) and Hero heals himself a little bit. Unlike Psyche up, while casting and before it is cast, Hero can block, dodge, or cancel again by pressing B. However if Heal is already cast you can no longer bait or make feints with it and have to wait for the recovery time. Heal % would require game testing, but a tentative 5-10% depending on recovery time on animation and startup for cast. Jingle is also heard when cast and you can cast-cancel spam, so a certain CD for the jingle.

>Side B

Kafrizzle. Jingle is heard when cast. Big fire ball comes down the earth to create a pillar of plame that lingers, like Ness's PK Fire or Robin's Elfire. Conversely

>Down B

Psyche Up. Empowers all moves. It can go up to 4 times, just like in the games. Yes, you can finally have Goku in smash, or at least Toriyama's artwork and signature saiyan haircut when fully psyched up at 100 tension. At x4 stacks, the sound effect of hitting an enemy is the same as in-game (The critical hit Sound effect). Properties are given depending on number of psyched ups, including more damage, launch, shield stun/shield break, and hyper armor for x4 stacks.

Kaswoosh. Leaves a Tornado. If used ont he ground you will place it infront of you. If used in the air, it is placed underneath you. Kaswoosh grants a big third mid-air jump for Hero/Eight and teamates. Think of sonic's spring, except it linger int he air while worming left and right. Depending on directional input it could squirm to that direction slightly. The casting jingle plays when executed.

basic grab. with the hands.

>Pummel

Depends on weapon equipped animation will change. Sword is hilt on the stomach. Slow. Spear is stick whack. Faster pummels. Boomerang is the fastest and best pummel.

>down throw

push them down and a spell on the face. Could be sizzle, or for the sake variety just give hero/eight Frizzle and he does so on the stomach/chest of the enemy. If sizzle, throws them very horizontally. Casting jingle is heard when done

If this is too much for Smash 5, Sakurai can simpl bake in the strongest options and remove the weapon switch system. Jab would be multi-thrust, Up-tilt would be a flame slash, Down tilt boomerang for weapon representation balance. Clean Sweep would be forward tilt.

But there you go. a DQ rep in smash playing with strategy akin to its original game's gameplay. Rack up damage with boomerang then proceed to finish the job with either weapon depending on opponent. Otherwise, even if you go a simpler route, the character is faithful to the series with a versatile arsenal.

A DMC cross Bayonetta game would be more complex then just that .

Bayonetta 1 has the Bracelet of time accessory, which is almost exactly the same as the Bangle of time from DMC1.

The description of the Bracelet implies that Dante's mother Eva was an Umbra Witch, and that Sparda was her contracted Demon. Dante having a Blood relation to the Umbra witches would defiantly peak Bayo and Jeanne's interests, since they are the last of the Umbra. There would also be the fact that an Umbra witch (Eva) had children with her contracted Demon (Sparda) and that would be way too scandalous not too be a hilarious cutscene.

As much as I like DMC and Bayo , I don't think a crossover would work unless it was clearly Non Canon to DMC since there being No Heaven in the DMC world is a big reason as to why it is the way it is.

K. Rool doesn't really appeal to me all that much, but I suppose I'm not against him getting in Smash on principle. I always main super heavyweights, and I'm also supportive of having more villains in the cast.

The problem is he's not really relevant anymore as the DKCR series has abandoned him for the sake of Tiki Tong and Lord Frederik. What would be nice is if they announced a new DKCR game with him returning as the villain, and THEN announced him for Smash.

There's other villains I'd rather have though, like Dr. Eggman.

I can see Reimu getting in as the 'indie' rep due to her games not only still being doujin but also being around since 1997 AND being one of the most notable 'mascots' from the shmup genre, but you just know her appearance in Smash, even if she's the only one, would cause the Touhou fanbase to be swarmed with secondaries who only know the character from Smash and never ever play the games.

This would mean that Sparda would also be fighting back against Heaven if they wanted to control humanity, it just messes with his legend too much.
