hey guys, what's closer to getting CFW, PS4 or Switch? Not sure which to buy. I heard Switched might be hacked by this summer...?PS4 is cheaper and has more good games at the moment, but Switch is getting some spicy exclusives later on.

Then I you should hold off on buying either until a year or so to see if the progress on the PS4 advances by much or if the switch is hacked by then. Also to see how the libraries for either console are expanded.

Switch. SciresM (the lead dev behind the furthest developed CFW as of now) has confirmed that CFW will be available this summer, if not sooner due to smooth development thus far. Even more, he has confirmed it will be on all firmwares, however firmwares above 4.1.0 may require some element of hardmodding or soldering involved; but not a modchip you would have to pay for. Ideally you still want a Switch on 3.0.0 but it'll be possible to mod any Switch so long as you have the experience and skills to do so.

tl;dr, CFW for Switch may be out before the new Pokemon or Smash game even if you're on a low enough firmware.

Nintendo's homebrew scenes are a lot more active and fast paced because Nintendo consoles have by nature more exclusives people care about. The reason you don't see full scale piracy on PS4 or the Bone is because a very hefty amount of their libraries are multiplat games or timed exclusives that people can just get on PC a couple months down the line.

The Wii, the Wii U, the DS, and the 3DS have all had incredibly open scenes in comparison to the competitors consoles, of which only the PSP was cracked open as wide.

To answer, yes, piracy will come incredibly soon after CFW because once full scale CFW stops, there's nothing stopping someone from making an app a la FBI for the 3DS if they care enough to. And with the Nintendo scene, they absolutely do.

Barely any games

No internet browser

The stuff to add a friend is inconvenient

2 themes, black and white

It's been out over a year now and still it feels like I wasted my money

the original nintendo DS lite gave me more satisfaction than this

I only don't have a Switch yet because the only game I would want to play on it I can already emulate on PC. Once there's a Pokemon game or Animal Crossing for it I'll probably jump on it. but only if I can hack it and pirate the games 4free
