Can you name one modern sequel to an old franchise that wasn't horrible and actually stayed faithful to the fans? It's hard but I know they exist. Pic related is the only example I can think of.

Do long-running franchises count or are we only talking about "revived" ones? For instance, the Atelier series has been running for over 20 years. The recent editions may be far from the best in the series, but they are still pretty faithful to the fans and I wouldn't call them horrible by comparison either. However, that series has been running continuously. When you look at games that only get a sequel a decade or more later I can't think of any that are good.
