Switch will have 10 decent exclusives in the future, but it runs into the problem that every Nintendo system has, which is that they mostly use their old IPs. So if you don't like their old shit, you won't like their new shit. And if you liked their old shit, you might not like the new shit anyways, especially if you're looking for something novel.

The Switch is enticing to me because I love the hardware, but I can't pull the trigger when I feel like I played better versions of everything on the system 18+ years ago.

No, it's just that a bunch of Wii U games got ported to Switch. Specifically, Mario Kart 8, Hyrule Warriors, Breasts of the Wild, Bayo 1 and 2, Captain Toad and Freeze Dong. And Splatoon in a way, since it got a sequel.

As for my personal opinion, there are people now getting PS4s for 50-ish bucks, which might be worth it, since you can pirate games if it's under a certain firmware. But the usual $250 is questionable, since there's only a few actual exclusives on it. The Switch is getting some games, but it's still not enough to justify $300. Wait for the inevitable hardware revision.

The Switch will be my next purchase, particularly as the hacking scene is really moving forward now. The lack of games sucks but it's been the same with Nintendo consoles for many generations now.

PS4 has a couple of decent exclusives, if you can get one cheap enough you can play them through and sell it again in a couple of months. The hacking scene has been really disappointing though. For multiplats you're way better off on PC anyway.

I can't think of any reason to own any Xbox console. The PS4 has a few good games on it. I think the Switch is probably your best bet though because of Mario Odyssey, Xenoblade 2, and BoTW.

Well the thing is with the Switch is that it's basically a handheld with shit battery like the OG PSP. However as you've noticed it's best used with a battery brick. Meaning that if you don't mind the wire that it's great as a handheld system, however it's not a full fludged console like the PS4 and Xboner. That said the Switch was the natural direction for Nintendo to go into since ARM technology has been increasing rapidly. Regardless I got ten worthwhile exclusives for the switch, a number of better versions for PS4 and a couple for Xboner. Keep in mind most of these exclusives end up being ported to the PC, it's why the PS4 isn't the PS2 successor everyone was hoping it would be, and is also the reason why the Switch is so successful right now. Because it's a portable, not a traditional console. This gives it an advantage over the PC and PS4, it also helps that the Switch technically comes with two controllers, meaning you don't need to buy an extra 60 dollar controller to play Mario Kart with a m8. It's actually genius. I just hope Nintendo of America doesn't fuck over everyone again.

then comes the question of why settle for an inferior version? It's a common argument PC gamers dish out even when it's objectively false - that PC versions are the best version ergo you should always play those versions. In this case, it's clearly not the best version and there's a superior alternative out there. You should try to get the best experience with the games you want within your means. If its a better experience on a $150 console vs a $450 PC or even a $700 PC, the answer is obvious. Sort of like of DRM is a principled issue on your platform, it makes sense not to sacrifice freedom on a platform you have because it's free - but a games console is not something people buy for freedom, it is something they buy for games.

Switch is the strongest of the consoles right now. If you have a good PC, Switch compliments it extremely well because it's something you can take with you. If you ever have to leave the house for extended periods (like a few days), you can just throw it in a case in your backpack and go. It's not like having to lug an entire console with you.

Switch has an advantage, because even if a game isn't exclusive, Switch probably has the only version of the game you can take with you. There are times I even consider a Switch version over the PC version, because being able to take it with me is a huge benefit.

That's the big advantage of the Switch. If you're just going to use it as a home console, it's the weakest hardware out of all the major consoles and it needs exclusives to be worth it. The value of it really depends how much you're not in front of a TV or computer. The less you're in front of them, the more valuable Switch becomes. If you are gone a lot, it's awesome. Specially if you have to travel for work or something like that. But, given how many good games it has right now, I'm still not sure it's worth $300. Sometimes I have to go stay with my parents at their house for several days. I used to have to disconnect everything from the Wii U, throw it in an extra bag, and then lug it back. With Switch I just pop it out of the dock, grab the charging cable from the dock, and go.

But, if you're playing games on the computer or TV most of the time, the value of the Switch drops massively. I wouldn't pay more than $150 for Switch if it were to be used only as a home console. But even as much as I like my Switch, I still think spending more than $300 with a game is way too much. I highly suspect Nintendo will do something to get the price down to $300 with a game by next year holiday. It's probably best to wait until then, because the price will go down and there should be some big game launches in that timeframe.

depends what you want really. PS4 is for the stuff you might not get on the PC or when the nips fuck up on optimizing the game. So naming 10 games is kinda hard since bloodborne and persona 5 is the only games that comes to mind then comes the yakuza games. If you like cutesy games then ni no kuni 2 is pretty good or dragon quest 11 which is a never ever coming to 3ds here, and the switch version is still being worked on since square did not get the tools ready in time.

I can sell you on a switch its a fun portable gaming system reminds me of the psp in a good way.

The other two consoles' games are all shit you've already played, will be able to in the future, or are things not worth dropping the price for a console.

I say "get a switch" because out of the three of them, literally every single game on the Switch is portable. So even a game is something you've already played, you can shop around and get it at a decent price and now it's portable.

There's also games on it, that are worth playing, but again. If you're going to sink money into one of the consoles, at least sink it into the one that's got the portability gimmick.

Please explain the difference to me. In the legal sense you do not own a console or pc game only a license that lets you rent the game. In the personal property sense though console games and cracked pc games are EXACTLY the same. Copy your console disc, rip your console disc, resell your console disc, lend your console disc to a friend you can do all of this things since you have control over the disc. You can also do all those same things with a cracked pc game as well since you have control over the files too. I see no difference in ownership between console and pc games, they're the same.

I have a PS4 though admittedly I managed at the time to get it at an insanely low double digit price so I'm not too invested in the platform. Since piracy is already available on the PS4 on older firmwares and the Switch is nearing the same state too I recommend those two first over the xbone since you'll have the option of demoing some games first. The libraries of games on those two are also better than the xbone currently besides backwards compatibility. The only worthwhile exclusive on the xbone I can think of is the spiritual sucessor to Panzer Dragoon so it's better to wait on getting the xbone and getting one of the other two consoles first.

For the PS4 the worthwhile games I can think of are:

I advise on waiting another year to see if Nintendo does do paid online or not and see what new additions to it's library are made before making your decision.
