Some faggot decided to nick code from an experimental new russian codebase that is yet to be released and is fairly unknown, called CEV Eris. It's a mix of FTL13 in that you're in a private space vessel instead of a space station, and Lifeweb in that nobody knows how its systems works and the place is extremedly deadly.

But there are so many additions ontop of it along with new systems that nobody exactly knows how everything works. Expect engineering to blow up and for science to be stuck in their labs trying to figure out how the heck their new system works.
Oh and the gloves security wears also double as stunbatons. Good luck figuring out how they work without breaking someone's face in first.

Most techniques I've heard of in general use an injected dll to hook into the packet opcodes before encryption, so you can forge arbitrary packets.
Since they go to the host and not the byond servers I assume security is minimal, eg it doesnt check server to server to verify a packet was requested.
Because of SS13s nature of spaghetti code, I would imagine it pretty easy to fuck things up

I think the station is built around restarting rounds being last-resort or antag greentexts, there is a respawn system in place that would theoretically let anyone come back to the round even if they can't be revived/cloned. That is, as long as we figure out how the fuck the engine works.
Oh about cloning. Medbay can't clone people, apparently the equivalent to the Chaplain has the sole working cloning machine onboard salvaged from the Alien War in which a bunch of technology was lost. CyberChristianity rose up to unite the people of the system it was recovered from the remains of Nanotrasen and they founded the NeoTheology Church. Hail Space Jesus if you even want to be cloned, the alternatives are Atheism and the cult of Technomancy as a Russian Techpriest, aka Engineering.
Needless to say, the chaplain is also the only one that knows how to handle the cloning machine, and you also need to perform some sadistic ritual to rip out the spinal-cross injerted on every christian to clone them.

Basically medbay is a lot more difficult. From what I can gather it is similar to colonial marines in a sense- chemistry mostly can produce medicines, there's a paramedic role, and doctors do a LOT of surgery, including handling prosthetics, as far as I can tell.
Turns out though even 15u of Blattisomething which comes from liquefying roach guts can cause lethal toxin damage over a long enough time if untreated.

How to set up the Engine:
>Wear a radiation suit and mesons (they run on batteries by the way)
>Activate all the pumps but DO NOT CHANGE THE PRESSURES
>Connect N2 canisters in the yellow and blue coupled ports
>Connect random canisters on the ports just north of the supermatter, where the Heat Exchangers are
>check the gas cooling systems, turn them on
>Activate the emitter, let it shoot 6-8 times, then go upstairs and monitor the temperature
>On one of the consoles click on RCON Remote Control, it allows you to remotely allow the breakers of every department to charge
From there on just juggle the gas cooling systems, check if the N2 canisters are empty, shoot the emitter if temperature is too low and praise the Lord.
How to set up the Thrusters:
>Go to the atmos room
>Near the Plasma Supply Control there's a pump called Plasma to Engine, activate that and set the Target Pressure to Maximum
>Do the same for the Oxygen Supply Control, there's a pump called Oxygen to Engine, set pressure to maximum
>Go down to the Thrusters Room (good luck finding them, there's a right and left thrusters room), activate every single pump there and set the pressure to maximum
>Also activate every manual and digital valve
>Check the various computers there, see if there's any red errors and click shit at random to solve it, open the Output with Toggle Power and click Set Pressure to automatically set the pressure to maximum
>Near the Left/Right Propulsion Control there's an ignition switch, activate it

You can play assistant, janitor, gardener, barkeep- generally any of the civilian jobs. Cargo can work too but it's slightly more complicated in the current codebase. Definitely stay away from ones like engineering, medical, and science. If you think you can be robust try security (ironhammer).

Exosuits, or at least the ripley and odysseus, are broke as well. in mecha_construction_paths it details the tools you should should, but the wording makes it out to be as if there's supposed to be ripley or odysseus armor plates you have to secure, which there are none in the fabricator. tried all the tools, all the materials, the boards, etc on the assembly's chassis anyway, none work. it's just straight up broke. although, it contradicts itself as in, it also lists the parts you have to secure to the chassis, and only lists the torso & limbs- but the gygax and such also don't list their armor plates. so who the fuck knows

Also, i teached >>14674061 this dude how to do the engine and it works unless you missed a step or something or din't set atmos because there's like no other way to pump more pressure into cold loop without that, it's also much safer as the higher volume of hypercooled Nitro pressure on cold loop eventually means the SM autogenerating plasma and oxigen can't really damage the engine.
Red/Green pipes are COLD LOOP, they go into space from green and return into TEGs from red hence why you need to max out the 3 valves.
Cyan/Yellow are HEATLOOP, they link directly into the SM shard chamber, with cyan injecting and yellow extracting. NOT TO BE CONFUSED WITH THE YELLOW PIPES AT THE LOWER DECK WHICH ARE ATMOS TO ENGINE, ONLY THE YELLOW PIPES WHERE THE TEGS ARE.
Cyan's Core to Space actively vents all pressure out of the engine, but it's slow and innefficient in panic scenarios even when maxed.
BLACK PIPES ARE CORE TO WASTE, they extract out of the heatloop into the black "cold loop", separated from red/green, whatever you don't filter back into engine with the omnigas filters. They start filtering nitrogen back into the loop WHICH IS GOOD but can be exchanged for plasma if you just want more pressure.
AS TO WHY THIS WORKS? TEG acts like a highly efficient heat exchanger, meaning colder gasses from one isolated loop cools the gasses from the other, hyperheated loop and viceversa. The meters may show that both loops are at 100-400c temp, what this actually means is that 1200c is being counteracted by around -250c. The higher the gas pressure and temperature difference, the more power the TEG makes out of this exchange.

He put all the gasses in the wrong places such that it was 5000 kelvin and 15,000 kPa when I got in round, not to mention leaving the atmos feed into the loops maxed. It was starting to melt down until I fixed it. I legitimately get your points and they would probably work if actually managed, since AFTER I COOLED THE CRYSTAL (to 500~ Kelvin because I wanted to reset the whole thing), the TEG's have been running just off of the pressure. I have some of it slowly leaking out into space, and once the system is empty I have some prepared nitrogen from atmos I'm going to put into the loops and run it standard. You still haven't explained why core to space shouldn't be open and still haven't made a pressure recommendation for my guide.

Pressure recommendation? Usually just injecting in small pockets of 2000kPa of nitrogen whenever you want the engine cooled/heated, or shooting the shard 2-4 times if you're running plasma on hotloop since the atmos Plasma to Engine does NOT link to the TEGs like nitrogen does but instead heads directly into thrusters. Heat difference is usually more important as no matter how much pressure you have you will have a slight advantage for the heat loop because of how gasses compress when spacecooled.
2500kPa heat vs 1900Kpa cold is roughly the same as 8000kPa heat vs 6900kPa cold, as long as temperatures are exchanged correctly.
Core to space doesn't really make sense to use even if pressures are high, since if you want to remove heat from the engine, what you actually want is just add more pressure into cold loop. Besides, the Omnifilters already passively filter gas out of the heatloop into the reusable black waste loop, all you need to do to heat that is to add some gas to the pipeline that leads into space.

Problem was likely that he left every pipe open, meaning that both heat and cold loop were being fed gas constantly. Along with the shard itself producing even more plasma and oxigen, it does not surprise me it reached 15000 pressure and wasn't cooling despite cold loop also being fed gas.
Also there was a misconception on your guide about the black loop, which doesn't cool anything, just passively filter whatever gas you don't select out of the heatloop mix. Other than that, i think it's just fine.
