Hey everyone, I'm balls deep in cranking out some CoinOPS Xboxes and I'm wondering what everyone else is working on? What have you been enjoying lately? Finally got that PS3 CFW'd or just getting started with your first PSP? Need any help or interested in learning about anything?
I'm a big fan of the classic Xbox and I love working on it. What have you modded recently and what have you been working on? Playing anything cool on these systems?

coinops is an emulator front-end which allows you to access a ton of games very easily from a nice menu that you can arrange a variety of ways (year, dev, platform, alphabetically, etc.) with nice video previews. It's like if retroarch had a great UI, but nice because you can hook it up to your TV for nice 720p output on all games. Results vary simply due to the age of the platform but it's a thing a lot of people like - the ability to just power on a console and have access to a ton of old games. I make my coinops xboxes with 12,600 games pre-installed on them. It's well supported and I think only saw its final revision last year. It also has decent hardware support with the x-arcade stick which comes in numerous configurations.
Look into it if you want something nice for guests to just sit down and play.

Soon only authorized dealers will have the authority to change flat tires. Please understand it's for your own safety.
Sage for off-topic.

You're not far off. While replacing a fat can be done by any yokel with a torque wrench, replacing the flat on the rim requires special equipment, as well as balancing weights.

I don't like coinops because they use code from xbmc4xbox and didn't open it. When called on it they said the whole project violates the microsoft TOS giving out xbox binaries and you now have to turn to third party builds for xbmc4xbox. Utter faggots.
On topic I've added backpanel s-video and coaxial audio out to my xbox. Little bugger gets used for movies more than anything, hence the surround sound. I also temporarily fixed a red ring and will soon be installing an xbkey in it.

one of the best things you can do is a tsop mod for your xbox so you don't have to concern yourself with more common failures for the system and can run unlocked hard drives.

the best way of life tbh. although if you have the older HD packs sell 'em for a bit of scratch and get the later release that's just a cable, that thing is so much better. Extremely thick and well-shielded cables and despite being made by monster doesn't have their trademark death grip connectors.

Anon, reading comprehension, I have xbmc4xbox, it's already modded. Hell it's TSOP flashed because the DVD drive was failing and I needed to get around the drive check on boot. The other way to mod is XboxHDM, which doesn't need a game, cable or 4GB drive, just a computer with IDE.
>>14622700
I thought of buying a HD pack but all I needed to do it myself was a single 70c IC. Plus I think the HD pack is optical only, when my receiver only had coax free.

I understood what you wrote, I was encouraging you. The HD pack/cable is indeed optical only.

Figured that this thread's as good a place to ask as any, but what's the big mods available for Xbox 360 E models? There's a Toys R Us in my area selling a 4GB model for cheap and was considering buying one for modding purposes, but the info I've found isn't exactly clear on the matter. I do know that only the 4GB E models can be hacked and not the 500GB models, but other than that I'm lost on all of it.
b584e3 No.14622748
>>14622745
looks like the 4GB models can be RGH modded like the slims can be, it's the 500gb ones that can't be. Do some more research into it before hopping onto it, but I think you may have an option there. I'm just seeing posts from 2015 however.

That's the same problem I ran into, all the info I found seems to be outdated but there isn't anything more recent I can find. I'm also still not entirely clear if the RGH method is hardware or software related either.
4e64b1 No.14622790

RGH requires hardware. If you just want piracy, flash the drive with alternate firmware and burn some dvds.

Now that I have a spare XBOX I'm considering that.
Is there a lot of soldering, specifically in easy to fuck up areas (1.0, dunno what brand is the chip)?
Do I need anything extra compared to a regular softmod, soldering iron aside?
c23ca4 No.14626617
>>14626015
You only have to bridge two pairs of pads if your TSOP is not a Sharp one. You can use thin wire to bridge the pads. I took a single strand from a piece of speaker cable I had lying around. If you use a flat tip that can touch both pads at the same time you can just put a small bit of solder on the tip, a bit of flux on the wire and touch both pads and the wire with the tip for a second to bridge the pads.
If your Xbox is already softmodded you can just burn the Hexen disc, boot it and flash a new bios with it. After that remember to use the Hexen disc again to reconstruct your C partition.

Thats a good feel anon. All my consoles are modded, though my CECH-A PS3 died a couple days back, hopefully I can still fix it as its the best video I'm going to get out of PS2 games, plus its nice to have everything in one console.

Patrician taste. Ever since my PS3 died I went back and finally finished Dragon Force on it, having a modded saturn is the best, no need to shell out a trillion dollars to scalpers and jews.
