Like Total War of Battle for middle Earth 2. Also citybuilding and a population training mechanic like pic related or Popolous would be nice. So you "convert" your villagers into soldiers and they don't pop out of nothing from a building.

Pic related had a hard life.

and the enemy troops were pretty much dead the moment they get into your influence ring, so it doesn't even feel like much of a challenge

just keep building colliseums and win

You can comfortably support an army in the low hundreds, if you build big enough. It's all just a matter of scale.

Also maybe I am alone in this, but when I conquer an enemy city, I actually build it up to make it medium town and a happy town. That's still for some reason "evil" though.

That's why I like Black and White 2. You can have a nice citybuilder, but you you can also attack the enemy.

Black & White 1 was one of my favorite games but goddamn did they fuck up 2 so bad. It was almost like a completely different game than the first one and having the opponent's faggot army come down constantly to be a pain in the ass made it way more fun to just be evil because of how often they come over to fuck with you.
