Part of that isn't just you, tetris completely dominates puyo puyo competitively. I've written about that and some other problems concerning Puyo Tetris in general at >>>/vg/28189. Not since the patch. A 7+ Puyo chain can easily fuck over any decent Tetrisfag. Of course, you have to know how to build against them. Counters work pretty good.

I am actually really good at Tetris, at least. From what I've seen, you're good at either one or the other, with Western players tending to be skilled at Tetris and Eastern players tending to be skilled at Puyo.

I've been watching streams and Puyo seems to almost dominate the top level of play. Tetris players have to constantly attack because if you try to build a center four wide then a Puyo player has time to build a combo that will eat the whole thing and still kill you.

That's why you can't build a center well. You have to do double t-spins to win as a Tetris player.
