As you may or may not know, Slavland developers have been on the rise. Mainly as a reaction to the American vidya being fucking shit because of corporate interests and greed in general. THQNordic being one such publisher trying to get away from this greedy and anti consumer way of making money.
However as you know, Slav games tend to be extremely janky. From Elex to Kingdom Come these games while still fun, have major issues. Do you think it's due to being too ambitious? too much realism in the games design? or is it a budget issue where funds are limited to vodka and potatoes. Regardless I wanna hear your opinions on euro jank. Additionally if you're in gamedev I think everyone would like to hear your experiences.

Wasn't Kingdom Come mainly jank as fuck because they hired a shitload of greenhorns straight out of college for their studio? I'm honestly kind of impressed with it. It has its faults, but all things considered it wasn't that bad. They just rushed it out the gate because they ran out of "time" but that's how it is.
Speaking of THQNordic, since they bought up DeepSilver, the publisher of Kingdom Come, does that mean that Warhorse Studios now is going to make games under THQNordic? I'm not sure how these things go.

Yeah Kingdom Come's the game with major issues when the absolute state of the RPG industry is defined by fucking Bethesda.
Honestly other than an uncompletable main quest - that got patched - and some disappearing guys due to lolscripted, I haven't seen anything in Kingdom Come that would qualify as a "major issue". Oh no the AI is imperfect - the absolute state of the industry is Bethesda. As someone who worked in game development, all the three things you mentioned are reason why the games end up being REALLY rough around the edges with crashes galore.There are so many ideas thrown at the wall and about 80% of them end up getting implemented and there is something about the Slavic mind which loves any kind of pointless realism in video games which in effect only ends up being pointless micromanagement. All of this being done on a shitty budget. If I remember correctly, Croteam didn't even have computers strong enough to test out the first Serious Sam so they had to send it to people around the world for playtesting.

Nah, I fucked up the main quest by capturing all the souls or whatever and killing every counselor and forcing the worlds to go grey. By that point I realized I fucked up because I couldn't access certain gates that continued the quest line. i like what they've been doing, and i think that you're right about them being ambitious. but thats definitely not a bad thing. ambitiousness got us games like Crysis back in 2007, so yea id say i like that aspect of what they're trying to accomplish. a good example was KC:D the game was jank and unfinished at launch and still is to an extent, but even in spite of that it turned out to be the best RPG ive played in years. yes of course there is the elephant in the room, but i dont think the political agenda of a creator should affect my view on their work.
