I just downloaded the first BS zelda and it's pretty lackluster, it's basically zelda one except the dungeons are different, the graphics are updated, there's some voice acting, and every once in a while a random event will take place.
However what kills it for me is that you have to wait 50 minutes for the dungeon rotation to change, on day one, you can only complete the first two dungeons, get the bow, the boomerang, bombs and letter, plus a couple of heart containers. The random effects are fun but not enough to make the experience worth it, stuff like being able to fire sword beams regardless of health, enemies only dropping fairies, fairies never dropping, only ruppies, thunder strikes killing all enemies, infinite bombs, etc.
Also never get the non voice acted version, the replacement Text boxes are Castlevania 2 tier.
In fact, skip straight to Ancient Stone Tablets, I heard it's much better.
