Often times in RPGs and video games as a whole, you're tasked with some quest which, to a normal person even in that world, seems extremely difficult, if not impossible. Are there any games with mechanics or NPCs who, in some way, react properly to you when you do something really good for them?

In most cases, I save the entire town from a horde of bad guys or something and then I go to the bounty board, collect my prize, and then nothing else happens. Nobody treats me any differently even though they really should since I basically saved their lives.

The most games I've seen that had the villagers react properly to the player's actions were western. Some instances are the Fallout games - Fallout 1, 2, and New Vegas to be specific. I suppose some of the Persona games seem to fit in as well, but it doesn't feel quite as direct in them. I want villagers to run up to me and congratulate me, praise me, kiss my feet, give me tributes, etc.

Does anybody have some games which feature things like this?

can you change the adoring fan into an elf loli qt?

9bda31 No.14588120

Overlord kinda does that.

>>14588100

If you asked him to, he'd probably try and become one for you.

Morrowind, others' disposition is affected based on what factions you're a part of, how high of a ranking you have, and how famous/infamous you are

I'm sure a mod exists for that, but you did remind me of this. Kamidori Alchemy Meister adequately rewards you for your accomplishments.

In the game, you take on mass-murdering ghosts, armies, dragons, etc. and in the end you are made the Lord of the entire city. I love that shit Though I'd like to know what the protagonist's friend/rival, whatever his name is, did in order to get so high up the ladder in such short time himself.

too bad the whole game is basically masturbatory wish-fulfillment that throws pussy at you for basically zero effort. And that the MC is a generic faggot without a spine

953606 No.14588200

>>14588166

While the MC is a generic faggot, I wouldn't say it throws pussy at you like it's no big deal. I had to pay out the ass for that fox bitch to lay with me.

b799c1 No.14588241

>>14588200

You get 3 waifus practically the moment the game starts. After you get many sluts like that, getting even more starts feeling more like a collect-a-thon than a genuine reward for something.

7918fa No.14588247

>>14588166

Eh? It's a hentai game?

953606 No.14588342

>>14588241

Yeah but of the 3 starting sluts, only one of them can be yours per route. Plus you only lay with said sluts after a lot of time has progressed - much like an actual relationship.

>>14588247

Aye. A pretty good one, although I think Sengoku Rance is better.

Well aside from the gameplay being incredibly shallow and having absolutely no depth

The Fable series does pretty much exactly what you described, but unfortunately the first game is the only one worth playing imo

I thought those were console-only games. I'll give Fable 1 a try one of these days now.

what, it has literally the barest bones crafting imaginable and the combat is just an incredibly standard SRPG.

178c37 No.14588406

>>14588393

You can get Fable 1 on Steam. Pretty decent port as I recall too, no crashes for me

b6431e No.14588431

Another game that does this is mount and blade warband, with many of your adoring fans coming from all over the north to drink from your skull

in all seriousness, it's kinda cool when a fellow commander thanks you for saving their ass or taking a city with them

953606 No.14588440

>>14588405

I wouldn't say it has the most innovative crafting system or combat, but to say either of them is shallow is simply presumptuous. It's quite "open-ended" as far as strategy goes, as well.

65bfa3 No.14588449

>>14588406

Yeah but get the original version not the remaster, they broke the inventory system, no longer supports mouse

88a95f No.14588458

>>14588134

Which doesn't matter at all.

Disposition is just a fucking number that means two things: a.) Threshold for only certain quests, and b.) How much money you can get from trading

It's a joke because you can just slam like 200g at someone and max their disposition permanently.

b799c1 No.14588459

>>14588431

Too bad he says that only once, gives you +1 relationship, and then never mentions it again.

BONERLORD FUCKING WHEN???

b4ed27 No.14588466

>>14588440

it's so open ended you can rub your characters against eachother until the enemy dies!

Incredible!

It's incredibly shallow. There's positively no variation in strategy except "who you want to use" because a majority of the maps handle the same way and the only gimmicks they have are massively minor terrain gimmicks "here's a room where flying works!" "Here's a room with swimming". The enemy HP is basically standardized so flying really is only useful for smacking something from a tile you normally can't be in.

And the crafting system is absolutely fucking shallow. It's literally "throw thing in pot". There's no player choice or anything, you make the item with the materials asked of you and you get the new item. It's the absolute bare minimum of crafting

Artificial Academy 1 & 2 are h-games where the gameplay is based on simulating the relationships between students, which naturally has them react accordingly to the events.

If you sleep around, or fuck someone specific, other characters may like you more or less(usually the latter).

Not sure if there's any non-h games with similar mechanics.

>too bad the whole game is basically masturbatory wish-fulfillment that throws pussy at you for basically zero effort.

Confirmed for not playing the game.

Gameplay is fun and by the time you get to the first porn scene you already forgot it was a porn game and started to play it solely for the RPG and store management aspect. Though it does turn into a seemingly endless stream of lewd after that.

9cc352 No.14591027

This is one of the things that trigger my autism in ARPGs, you're a one man army killing monsters that have never been killed in-universe before and nobody gives a shit.

Latest example I can think of is Grim Dawn, even though it tried to do something with improving the settlements through quests, it quickly falls back to the same flaws. I kill a big bad guy that has been creating zombies (or whatever that was, the boss of Act 1) and spreading fear in the region, get back to the settlement and I get greeted with "yeah whatever fuck off, by the way get your ass to the next outpost". Same thing in the following act when I have to clear tunnels of creeps that have been invading the fields, nobody gives a shit.

I understand that people that play this kind of games just want to kill hundreds of trash mobs and sometime drop a shiny ultra rare piece of gear but to me it's always been my biggest complaint in the genre, the world and even the NPCs don't react to your actions.

b799c1 No.14591049

>>14591027

I liked that in Diablo, enemies didn't respawn, so you could actually feel like you had an impact. In games like Grim Dawn, where enemies respawn the moment you change maps, all your efforts feel rather pointless, since in the end, the situation went back to how it was before you arrived.

Nigga, when you kill the queen of the bugs, all the farmers return to the field and you can send the food they harvest back to Devil's Crossing. That was the entire point of going to Homestead.

At least I could spruce up the prison by going on a fetch quest for some cloth.

It makes no sense that you don't have a harem of ten year olds by the end of most games.

2 is worth playing. It's not earth-shattering or anything but it's damn comfy and a solid game.
