Body was too long apparently, so I'm continuing this post here.
That one map with the ballistas, where you rescue the prisoners off the isle or whatever. They had archer ambush reinforcements. You know, the game that gives effective weapons 3x base power? The kind of power that can one-shot pegasus knights?
That's not even getting into shit like mercenaries spawning with fucking lancereavers, what the fuck is that.
Probably the thing that pissed me off most was Hector's death. It was so sudden and so bullshit that I was frankly fucking pissed. Lilina is honestly the best thing to come from that whole… thing, and I think I'm giving her extra favoritism because she's hector's daughter.
Of course, any recurring characters from fire emblem 7 still retained some interest for me, but I generally preferred them in 7, outside of the novelty of seeing their growth as characters, which while interesting, didn't compel me to them as strongly as their initial selves did, at least without a better context to appreciate them in.
The missing characters also annoyed me, though Fire Emblem 6 came before 7 (a mistake, in my opinion though perhaps it was for the best given that pretty much everything was fixed in Fire Emblem 7 anyways) so I can slightly forgive that. I just wish that, having played 7 before 6, that the tactician actually had a role in 6. Instead its just Roy, alone. You were basically part of the family in 7. instead you watch this teenage faggot who honestly anyone would doubt leading an army effectively and yet somehow he does, repeatedly, for the whole game. Never loses a fight as far as I'm aware.
Either way, comparing characters I liked in 6 compared to ones i liked in 7, the gap is huge. In 6, I liked
>Lilina
>Garrett (though I never used him, I liked his character)
>Gonzalez (see above)
>Deke
>Lalum
>Klein
>Elphin
>Fa (FE7 character)
>Merlinus/Marcus (FE7 character bias)
>Karel (FE7 bias)
>Zephiel (FE7 bias, disappointing villain but at least his aesthetic was cool)
>Narcian (always need a rape villain)
>Idunn (sad, nice ending)
If I were to look at FE7's cast, I would like literally everyone, except for maybe Erk, Guy, Canas, Dorcas, Bartre, Vaida, Dar,t Lowen, Wil, Isadora, Heath and Raven. And even then, their characters are still more appealing than FE6's. Being hard on FE7's character's (not including villains because that would tip the scales even further), that's about 26/38 playable characters, more than enough for at least 2 playthroughs.
This is sort of a directionless ramble, but fuck you.
Fire Emblem 6 was fucking lame.
Oh, and the epilogue sucked absolute dick, especially compared with Fire Emblem 7. Generic one-liners everywhere. Ending CG the size of a thumbnail in an emulator for whatever reason, not sure why that's the case, but anyways, there was no satisfying conclusions even at the end of it all, except for Roy saving Idunn. The Binding Blade as a plot point, despite being absent and untalked about for most of the game was probably the most interesting part of it, and that only came at the end. Everything else felt like generic "evil conquest take back everything and win the war" nonsense that all mixed in my head as some kind of unmemorable mush.
