Is there anything as good as or better than Red Faction: Guerilla? It's been 9 years, someone must have made something… r-right?

c0753d No.14576198

after 4 red faction games and numerous other games which experimented with destruction it was unanimously determined that ultimately building games (and communist propaganda) isn't a good way to create good entertainment. The shallow curiosity of having destructive environments in the end culminated in nothing but some pretty shit games. Now all they exist for is as a call back followed by tears of "why hasn't the industry improved this gimmick that is entertaining for 7 minutes at best!"

Do you even play video games?

why are you derailing your own thread?

b7e650 No.14576252

RFG is kind of the peak I think, it would be nice if there was a game that took a similar concept/engine but had more interesting building interiors, or more to do inside them.

Bad Company 2 really was the last good Battlefield.

c3a409 No.14576415

Megaton Rainfall is kind of good for that, you can do pretty much whatever outside of missions, like going 9/11 on every skyscraper in sight. It's kind of janky and light on content but considering it started out as a Sony VR thing it's not bad as it could have been.

One thing I found sad was you can't burrow your way to the planet's core.

79038a No.14578332

Vangers had some neat voxel shit from 98, it's not the focus of the game and it's a bit janky, but neat little things like jumping through ceilings, leaving tire tracks, and brittle/worn terrain collapsing as you go over/through it.

Space Engineers can be better, but only when the great lord Clang is not watching.

X-Morph Defense also has some neat destruction and debris mechanics where you can block paths with boss remains and carefully demolished building parts and debris.

Mercenaries 2: World in Flames was pretty good when it came to leveling city blocks.

WOOO BUMPER CARS

>Woah why hasn't this utterly worthless and completely incompetent left-wing-propaganda-pushing industry taken old tech and pushed it forwards to revolutionary levels? Surely current year's double digit IQ developers with a bachelors on game design are more than capable on making good video games and rendering tech

Fortnite and R6: Siege are the only ones I can think of lately that have it. R6's is supposedly very detailed and has actual applications.

The tech is out there for anyone with 2 braincells to rub together to use surely there'd be someone interested.

Now I remember it Deep rock galactic uses fully destructable cave systems for its maps. Pick a direction and start digging or blasting.

4ea0d1 No.14583326

Hatred actually has some really good environmental destruction, it is actually one of the games better points.

cb1723 No.14583333

Red Faction is a leftypol approved series (2 particularly) don't respond.

It's a fun game about taking down an evil one-world government. Leftypol's opinion doesn't matter.

Technologically Armaggedon has the same destruction tech but can do slightly finer chunks, shame there's simply not as much shit to blow up even in the "blow shit up" mode.

This.

It's dumb fun for 10 mintues, but then you wish you played a proper video game.

Thats the problem, the cucks in the industry only have half a brain cell to share between them.

c6689d No.14584477

Its a common misconception since anyone with over 90 iq will never go on boards such as /tv/ or /b/ or /cow/ and any unfortunates who do just repress the memory to the point where they think /v/ is the worst of the worst.

Reminder that if you own a physical copy of the PC version of RFG you can email photos of it to THQ Nordic and they will give you their updated version of the game on Steam.

Also reminder that a remastered version has been announced.

If Xbox emulation ever comes around, check out the Otogi series. It isn't up to par with Guerilla, but it is decent fun for throwing enemies through buildings.

d32022 No.14585326

Assuming it's treated like the two Darksiders remasters, it should be free if you already own it.

unless it includes a less suicidally insane enemy AI, I don't care.
