What are some good games to play on the ps3?

My brother gave me his old ps3 slim that had a broken bluray drive.

I was planning on jailbreaking it but, I never got around to it because the only way to do it was to buy a modchip.

But I recently found out about the 3.82 web exploit and decided to jailbreak it.

So it's running rebug and has multiman installed.

what games/homebrew could anons recomend me?

Why is the homebrew and hacking scene so weak on the PS3? I mean I like it but it doesn't hold a candle to Freestyle Dash 3 or Aurora.

A Jtagged 360 is so much more comfy.

Yea i've got a RGH 360 slim and having it boot straight into Aurora is so damn comfy.

The fact that you cant straight boot into multiman, webman or whatever the fuck is so shit.

It just feels so clunky booting the xmb then going to multiman.

To add to that, using ReACT PSN is a clunky hack in and of itself. You install your games, copy the .rap (activation) files to a directory on a flash drive, make and sign into a new profile named "aa" and then run ReACT PSN. The aa profile becomes a ReACT PSN profile, and you must have that profile (don't have to sign into it) to have a "valid" license. If you install more games and need more .rap files loaded, you have to delete the ReACT PSN profile and remake the aa profile. In the end it all works, straight from XMB, so I can't complain too much, but certainly this process could raise a red flag for Sony. If they have some way of seeing local profile names on somebody's PS3, they could mass ban anybody with an ReACT PSN profile.

>>14561737

At the very least, there seems to be more interest for continued PS3 development than the Wii U right now. I hacked both within the last month, and Wii U is kind of dogshit for anything homebrew-related. It's great for downloading and installing all 25 Wii U games worth your attention, plus anything they have on VC, but (more accurate) emulators mostly rely on Retroarch; of which doesn't have an installable channel yet and is so goddamn buggy that even messing with the settings can make the menu disappear with no way to get it back. And when I finally do get it working, I can't even play the games in 4:3 resolution without that shimmer effect due to the way it renders uneven pixels, and I'm seeing this even on a (late model, HD) CRT. But I digress, this isn't necessarily the place for RetardArch gripes. The rest of available homebrew on Wii U is either lacking or crashing. Even Wii homebrew does a lot more for so little power in comparison.

Fuck, this got long

Check the cfw2ofw compatability list. NPS only has games you can download off the PSN. There are a lot of games that require you to fiddle with theore PS3_game folders and registry shit, but you can still play on a slim.

ff23e1 No.14564971

>>14564920

I think the PS3's continued development comes down to the fact that there's more games for it than the wii u, nobody seems to want to touch the wii u and its development environment pretty much prevents any real use of the hardware. PS3 on the other hand is unique and there's lots of programmer autism to explore.

b8fc39 No.14564981

>>14564920

Retroarch is shit, I don't know why anyone outside of reddit recommends it.

people still want ps3's because the support was so good and there's been a ton of releases. Sloppy start but yeah, here we are. I think after 2009 the only people who kept spewing the no games meme were slavs who aren't even really white.

Depends,Phat and Early slims can have the full exploit meanwhile the later slims/superslims only have the han exploit

7b6e46 No.14565014

>>14564994

You don't seem to understand, I don't want to deal with Retroarch at all. I just want to launch an emulator with a simple text-based menu, select my ROM, and get going. Snes9x on 3DS does this, has a nice little interface instead of XMB annoyance.

If you did find the model number just search for a model number chart online and match it with your ps3.

a7a599 No.14565869

>>14565842

What's the number on it read as? 20XX slim models you should be good to go for the full hack, but 25XX is where it gets iffy, as some work but others won't. If you want to be completely sure (which is still something I'd recommend even if not), you can run MinVerCheck on the system.

> I think I'm screwed but it doesn't matter because apparently the power cable is missing.

Regardless, you can still use the han exploit to get games, it will just be limited. Besides the NPS games, here are the ones which you can make play if you're willing to go through a million hoops.

http://www.psdevwiki.com/ps3/CFW2OFW_Compatibility_List

That said, you can still convert and play PS2/PSP games either way, which is pretty nice.

63227e No.14565903

>>14565889

I was looking forward to the full exploit. What does that offer? Just want to know. And for that matter, where do I go about finding a PS3 power cable?

>ctrl+F "Tales of…"

>phrase not found

Shit. Was looking forward to Tales of Vesperia.

1bf8d3 No.14565948

>>14565903

The full exploit is for PS3s with a model number around or before the CECH-2X range and they have a starting firmware below a certain amount. They get access to full CFW, the later slims and superslims get access to play backups and some homebrew like emulators, but it requires that you turn the emulator and games into a ps2 classic to fool the system.

>>14565877

Yeah, that's a later slim. I was in a similar boat last year (after the Thanksgiving exploit but prior to the more recent options), and simply traded it in for a 200X at a local store (which also came with a bigger hard drive than my previous one). I suppose it's liable to be an expenditure on your part if you want to go that route, but PS3s have been getting fairly cheap of late, at least compared to what they used to be. Saw one at a local multimedia shop in an "end of year console clearance" bin a few months back for $70 I think (it was a fat, the model of which I couldn't tell beneath the wrapping on it, but those are admittedly a bit of a crapshoot despite the 20/60gb having PS2 disc compatibility).

>>14565903

Vesperia and uncensored Berseria were perks for me back in November, as far as making sure I had a system that would work with the hack. Not that those are the only games, but they are ones you need CFW (or eventually, emulation) to be able to run in English for the system.

>>14565903

It strikes me that that page could well be a work in progress, and some games just haven't had results listed yet. However, it's worth noting that the Japanese PSN also had a number of games that have no digital option, remaining disc only out there (even when the western releases were given more options. Checking the JP PSN, amongst those are Tales of Vesperia, Tales of Graces f, Tales of Xillia, and Tales of Xillia 2 are listed as disc only (Symphonia Chronicles, Zestiria, and Berseria have digital options). Also, do not think the NA or PAL PSNs have everything either: even out here there's various games that were left disc only for whatever reason, such as Nier (which was a problem until Square deigned to reprint it a few times).

b8fc39 No.14565986

>>14565972

>It strikes me that that page could well be a work in progress

It's more or less complete. Only games that have PSN updates can use the cfw2ofw method.

b8fc39 No.14565988

Ah, I'll admit I haven't delved too much into that NPS stuff, since it doesn't really matter on my end (was going off >>14564926 ). So it's more that a game itself runs on a version higher than the original 1.00 release, as opposed to just having a digital native version?
