This feature is so rare in videogames. Can you guys think of any more vidya that let you do stuff like import skins or models, or build stages with materials beyond what the game itself provides?

I just want to make vidya stuff without feeling like I'm wasting my time.

The Lux series makes it kinda easy to make and modify maps by way of just editing images. Crusader Kings uses a similar system if I remember right.

Remember when Brawl had a stage creation tool and it was ABSOLUTE GARBAGE?

Lots of early online DS games let you draw a small emblem. Nintendo stopped when they realized that you could fit plenty of vulgar stuff within the tiny number of pixels you were given (30x30 I think it was).

>This feature is so rare in videogames.

It has a lot going against it. Making a system like that which has enough complexity to be worth using is a major pain in the ass. I'm also willing to bet that getting a studio to pay for the development of a feature that most people are never going to use is unlikely. Not to mention, nowadays it's profitable to sell cosmetics even in singleplayer games, so you can argue that letting players make whatever they want is equivalent to intentionally denying yourself lots of money.

Back in the day on 4/v/, there were whole threads just for sharing images to use as headgear for Battleblock Theater. I had a Kamiya one I used a lot before I uninstalled the game.

Yes, in fact I believe it's exclusive to the PC version. The XBLA art is just the first thing I pulled off Google.

Wish I had known about that when I co-oped it with a friend recently. Pretty fun game.

>Level editor is the same one the devs used

>Has full scripting ability

You know it's good when it's a separate program from the game.

I loved that shit.

Also OP, StarCraft 1 and 2's map editors are pretty damn robust, I've seen people put footmen models in to make zealot frenzy literally footmen frenzy. Oh and of course custom music, assets, the works

There was also some people that made some StarCraft MMORPG (or maybe it wasn't mmo but it was structured like one) and it was pretty crazy.
