It's one of the few entirely FLOSS browser based game so you can run it locally or on your own server, sometimes I just leave it running as background music.

There’s no randomness tonwhen you recieve the next cookie, it always happens when you click on the cookie. But you are otherwise correct that it is a shallow game in which the primary gameplay is just waiting around so you can buy more grandmas. In otherwords, a simple distraction and not really a videogame.

I played cookie clicker so much, both the orginal version and the rebooted/finished/2.0 version, that I ended up breaking my mouse. I also bought some merchandise from that french faggot. It was the jacket and shirt, they were cheaply made and extremely thin but surprisingly durable. I still wear the jacket from time to time when I need to blend in with the hipsters.

I remember enjoying Candy Box and Candy Box 2, though I seem to recall there being only a single way to play the game, which I generally don't like.

I unironically enjoy idle games. I have one open nearly every moment. Right now I'm playing a mediocre one called NGU on Kongregate.

Cookie clicker a shit. It was barely acceptable when it was in beta and he was shilling it on /v/, but from there it swiftly descended into pure trash.
