As a rule, and for reasons that are too stupid and boring to discuss, the new games I buy are almost exclusively 3D console games released on disc. This is a pretty simple criterion, and I've had no trouble buying games that way since about 2000.
But for some reason, over the past few years, it feels like the number of 3D retail console releases has plummeted (not counting shovelware). What the fuck happened? Obviously someone is going to say "digital distribution," but most 3D console games that are worth a shit still get physical releases eventually. Has the number actually dropped, or is the volume of indie pixelshit or shovelware games simply so massive that it only seems that way?
