Video games that tackle war tend to be more geared towards action, but are there any games that truly get across the horrors of war?

7f2018 No.14428917

Metal Gear

This War of Mine

Spec Ops: The Line

Off the top of my head. Won't say anything about their quality though.

Grand Strategy, nothing is more horrifying than the death count at the end of a war (even if you're playing KR mod for HoI4 and you win a war with 0 casualties, the way the AI keeps throwing troops at you even after they lost millions is fucked up).

bdd63a No.14429333

Speaking of a symilar topic, is there a horror game with a stylistic that is based on war?

ad5b1d No.14429348

Strategy games, what else.

Just look at Mount and Blade and Total War battlefield after you finish.

Necrovision?

Not so much a horror game as a horror-styled action game but pretty good recommendation, thanks anon.

it's a shame there aren't more survival horror games that deal with war.

The Wolfenstein 2009 had a good model that's underused for war games. It had the hub world, in the midst of war with various missions. That system allows you to capture some of the real horrors in a war while still giving you action.

The funny meme substitution is retarded since you're trying to recommend something and only the people who already know what you're talking about will even know what you're trying to say. Nobody is going to pop in all

>trip what? trip something? can you stop being a retard and communicate?

Except me but i'm drunk so fuck you

Can't call it a "good" game persay but CODWAW had some decent moments. Hiding in a pile of dead bodies in the russian campaign and landing on a freshly bombed beach in the american campaign were pretty visually intense but obviously very scripted

Oh shit, that's right OP

There's this game that might be just what you're looking for.

Never played it though, it doesn't look too gritty but the premise seems right up your alley.

I don't think you play as soldiers though.

WaW was average, but it had great moments like these.

Especially regarding Soviet brutality
