Not that I normally care about console sales chartz but it looks like the Switch is the best selling 1st year of any console ever.
The ps4 had 20 million in 14 months and sony says that counts as their 1st year (which also includes 2 fucking BlackFriday's and holiday seasons) but so far the Switch has sold around 19 million units in only 12 months making it almost certainly the best selling 1st year of any console of all time.
So good job nintendo.

According to kikepedia, the Wii shipped 20.13 million in it's first year, beating PS2, that is if the number you mentioned is the number of shipped PS2 consoles and not the actual number of PS2 consoles that were sold.

I should have also mentioned, that even if the Wii didn't outsell the PS2 or if the Switch fails to have as a successful year as the Wii, that wouldn't make the Switch a failure, in terms of sales at least, just because you are not number one, doesn't mean you are in a last place.

In one year the Switch has gone from $300 Zelda box to console with a bunch of indie ports and an accessory that's literally just fucking cardboard. So it's certainly not in a good place, but it has something, I guess. At least the dog is cute.
