Every time I think of Prince of Persia or a Mechner game, I get reminded of what was done with Karateka for the Apple II.
Despite it adding to the manufacturing cost to the floppy disks, Mechner convinced some higher-ups to make the disks double-sided. The second side contained the same game, except it was visually flipped upside down. As a joke. Just so tech support could respond with "Oh, we get this all the time. You've put the floppy in the wrong way around, just flip it around and insert it again".
I think the idea came about when looking into cool ways to screw with pirates; Karateka had some pretty heavy copy protection measures.
