Everyone who plays video games are so sensitive on any attempt to control the media (And, rightfully so) that they'll immediately go after someone just because they don't care for video games. However, what Trump said was on media as a whole. He wasn't just referring to video games, he was also referring to film. And, that's the bigger issue.
Media EVERWHERE should be held to the same level of standards, but their not. Everything is held to different standards and that's doing nothing that's but causing a detriment to media as a whole. It's only "acceptable" for "certain media" to handle "certain subjects" because display of it in another form of media would result in the ratings organizations slamming their hammer down on it for some stupid reason or result in an noutcry of it being "taboo". And, I'm not entirely on Trump's side here, I'm against the fact that there is talk over how we should limiting what media can say and do because it causes a slippery-slope situation of "Where does it end?" However, attacking the guy just because he mentioned video game off-hand is missing the bigger issue. Video games are not the only media facing the problem.

It's political suicide for anyone under the GOP banner to kill thousands of jobs and cause economic damage in the hundreds of millions via regulation. Video games are entertainment, a fiction and escape that people spend money on for leisure. There is no argument to be made for public safety that would remotely justify regulating them, unlike the way that food or pharmaceutical production is regulated.
Video games are also protected by the First Amendment, as affirmed by the Supreme Court in Brown v. Entertainment Merchants Association. This means that very little in the way of regulation is even constitutionally possible. The government can't even legally stop underageb& from buying M-rated games, the ESA and retailers do that voluntarily.
