I'm actually really excited for this. It'll be nice to have a small handheld computer I can bring with me on the go, then put it in the dock for a full desktop experience when I'm at home. It's full GNU/Linux as well and not that Android crap which is a huge plus.

So the Surface Studio is what you want then? As far as I've heard they are actually pretty good. You could certainly build it into a table too if you want, especially with the way the hinge works it could pop out to be used as a normal monitor.

I guess the Wii U ports are a draw for some since not many people bought the Wii U and never got the chance to play them. Beyond that though I have no idea. The only things that would maybe tempt me to consider getting one are Bayo 3 and Metroid Prime 4, but Prime 3 doesn't fill me with much hope for the latter and, unless Platinum seriously change up their formula this time around, I feel like I've played the former already.

This thread is fucking embarrassing. Running Linux on a Switch is a near-useless party trick. If you want a tablet for running Linux on, there are better options. Yes, even ones with docks and HDMI-out. The only reason ANYTHING abnormal on the switch is exciting is because of its controllers offering a better way to play emulators and such than the typical Android Bluetooth controller. But for emulating old shit you're better off with a hacked Vita or 3DS. The only real draw to Switch hacking is pirating its shitty library of remakes and ports because those don't deserve your money if you already have the Wii U version, but it'd be kind of nice to have them portable. And there's been no piracy news yet, so fuck it all until there is.

The only good consoles ever released are NES, SNES, GENESIS, N64, PS2, Gamecube, Xbox 360, and the Switch. Everything else is trash.

I wouldn't mind getting a Switch if it were about 300 bucks all in but with all the extras added I find it difficult to justify the price. Add on a screen protector, carry case, extra joycons, pro controller if you want one, micro sd at least 64gb big, prob 128gb if you're going to do a lot of emulating with it (roms, isos etc). I could see it easily costing 400 plus all up. And that's just for people who won't be paying anything for games. Just for a shitty tablet.
