Newtypes went way too far in Gundam. It was nicely contained in the first one but in later series it's just absurd. The idea of cyber newtypes was a neat idea but it felt more like an excuse to add in insane characters to pilot mobile suits. Usually being cute girls. What killed dating sims? VNs are similar, but it's not the same without the comfy atmosphere, the challenge of micromanagement and failure hanging over your head. Excluding shit like The Girl in the shell (ages since I played it, innocent grey) you don't often fail or put in a ton of effort to fuck up and be denied the reward. I liked dating sims, they had a nice balance of comfy and cute, with an effort required to get the rewards which may or may not have been pornographic.
Will this art ever make a comeback? Surely there is atleast one nostalgic, passionate and talented otaku in Japan who will make more content.

It's got a lot of issues, look at lost detail, the emotion (hidden face v generic blush looking at camera), the colour choice where one is brown/orange making it more warm and relaxing, where the new bright colours make it happy and energetic.
The sad thing is the artist probably didn't think of it, it was unconscious because modern animes look is so prevalent, we probably have people who can't make anything else.

Are any of those even good? I fell for the Sakura bundle a while ago because I wanted Sakura Fantasy - only to find out the nipjews weren't going to do a part 2 because it didn't make enough money. Haven't even bothered playing any of the others.
Also got a copy of Highway Blossoms, because a lesbian treasure hunt in an RV across the American southwest sounded really comfy, but it was pretty much just a flat out storyline from start to finish - no harem to choose from or choices to make.
Some of the stuff in the new bundle looks like it might actually even have some gameplay. RaidersSphere4th looks like it has some flightsim shit, and Sunrider shit looks like a strategy-lite.

They're more abstracted, which means that your mind fills the holes itself and immerses you. Newer visuals leave nothing to the imagination and the viewer is removed from the equation, resulting in a deficit of aesthetic virtue when the art isn't up to snuff - as is invariably the case in visual novels. It's sort of like the uncanny valley; the more detailed and (for lack of a better word) "realistic" it is, the more your mind picks at any inconsistencies.
Apart from that, the original has objectively better fundamentals IMO.

I think Fault is the weirdest thing Sekai's ever done. The original writer is a native English speaker writing the story in Japanese and then having someone else translate it to English. As a result the original translation was pretty shit (as expected of Sekai), but I've heard it's been improved since then. Ley-line was in "QA" for 11 months. Maitetsu has been in "QA" since June of last year, but it's also longer than Ley-line, so I wouldn't expect it before some time near the end of the year at best. Also expect bugs because Sekai doesn't actually do QA. Baldr Sky is going to be a disaster if it ever actually gets released. The engine is a total mess to work with and they can't even release a VN with no gameplay without bugs.

Sunrider is okay. Jumps the shark in the third part though where they lock you in with a LI that I had no interest in and basically killed off what little story was left at that point. They have a "what if" part that allows you to pursue the girl you actually like but by that point I had given up.
The actual battle mechanics are pretty fugging great with the different mechs. You have 3 damage types, Kinetic, Laser and Missile. Kinetic are the big guns and stuff that shoots. Small stuff is accurate but don't do much damage but the bigger guns are great against battle ships. Countered with high armor. Lasers are a long range and accurate but do very little damage. Countered with shields and every ship later has their own shields generated, meaning you won't do much damage. Missiles do solid damage and are an option against pretty much everything if you have them saved up. Countered by armor and flak, bigger ships have more flak and two battleships and a carrier together means you won't hit them. Enemy has missile frigates though that can damage you pretty good if you don't cross over your flak fields.

In a way, I am guessing the whole disconnect was the point Ryu was going for with the meta shit. But then the whole thing makes no sense, as everyone dies at the end of the first arc (at whose end, by the way, it's implied they meet a supernatural being that kills them anyway). It would then just be numerous murder cases with the same setting and characters, only different victims and tools used, which would be essentially entirely unrelated to each other. The magical realm shit is what ties it all together and gives it some sort of continuity. I treated it as meta shit after the first arc, where those parts are in bonus content, but second arc just straight up has the magical realm as an internal part of the plot. Not to mention, second arc has the killer's PoV scenes a few times, where the witch literally starts summoning demons and fighting with magical blades and shit – even if Battler somehow came up with some convoluted explanation about how the murders could have been done without magic, I wouldn't believe him, as the game had already proved the existence of magic beyond a shadow of doubt. They can't even say it's some sort of sci-fi technology, since it's set in 1989. A cherry on top of this is that Battler's whole argument is complete bullshit. With that line of thinking, it would be impossible to prove anything ever. You could claim that grass is green, while Battler would claim that you haven't proven it, since grass could actually be bright violet, but some alien technology could make everyone in the world hallucinate that grass is green (which you couldn't actually disprove because hey, maybe the aliens are undetectable by human technology :^) ). It's just shit and it makes me mad.

They don't all look the same there are lots of different styles used if you gave enough of a damn to look at the character design and art you would see that not everything is a cookie cutter design. There was also money to spare back before japans economic bubble popped so you are going to get less quality animations from studio's, but it's better than the state of most media right now.

That's some purple prose garbage by any standard but even worse it doesn't match the picture. Mocha is a lot paler than that. Why even write a description like that when there's an illustration anyway? How is it a façade when she's resting anyway, is she secretly supposed to be happy and hiding it? You can get away with a lot in "magical realm" fantasy settings, but a supposed fighter wearing hoop earrings breaks suspension of disbelief for just about everyone. Why is the text-box labelled "Narrator" (instead of just being unlabelled descriptive text) unless this is an in-universe play with narration, but in that case the narrator shouldn't be describing things people can plainly see? Why is this image such a bottomless pit of fuckups? Every time I look at it there's something else wrong with it.

Speaking of Tinker Bell, I know they've released a sequel to their Tsun Dere stuff and they're pretty much god tier in terms of VN porn. Sadly, I can't find a single link to any of those for free except rondo duo, which I adored. I did find a few videos but that's worthless, I wanna play implying VNs are played.
