Year Walk sorta had one. It was simple, but it turned the game on its head.
>start game next to a cabin and a safe with some symbols instead of numbers
explore the forest and realize it's a love story about a man going on a year walk to try and see the future
>witnesses mythological creatures that lead him and force sacrifices from him before he can complete his year walk
>game ends with him waking up from a sort of sleep-walking coma, it looks to be spring and he's standing in front of the love of his life as she's bleeding to death on the grass
>a message on screen tells you to use CURRENT YEAR as the code to for the games encyclopedia
>leads to a day-by-day journal of a man in modern times trying to study Swedish folklore
>finds some newspaper articles about a man who goes on a year walk and killed a woman, and was quickly given a death sentence
>he finds the safe and takes it home with him
>his entire life falls apart in less than a week and he starts losing his mind, tearing his rented room apart looking for whatever is watching him
>he keeps seeing symbols pop up and realizes they're for the safe
>opens the safe and finds out nothing is inside
>it dawns on him that the safe was not meant for him
>puts some items in the safe and performs his own year walk in the same cabin as the man he researched
>go back to the main game
>use the combination to open the safe
>it has a newspaper article from a later date about how he killed the woman he loves and that he was put to death
>there is a letter from a man claiming to be from the future, stating that there is only one way out of this, and that 'you know what you must do'
>the last thing in the safe is a knife
